Well, as we all know, this is the final week in major league baseball's regular season, and I thought I would start a poll to ask how people think things will wind up. I'll start with the National League,. and go from there.

My vote for this poll is that the Phillies will win the NL East, the Mets will win the Wild Card, and the Brewers wont make the playoffs.

Bottom line, the Mets had the NL East in their hands, and they blew it. Losing four of six games to the Braves the past two weekends probably sealed their fate. They also have a tough schedule coming up, playing six games against the Central Division Champion Cubs, and the Marlins at Shea.

The Phillies definitely have the easier schedule. They have six games at Citizens Bank Park, with the Braves, whom they are 13-2 against this year, and the weak Nationals. Considering the schedules of both the Mets and Phillies, I will be surprised if the Phillies blow the division. I think Philly will win at least two of three against the Braves this week, and likely two of three against the Nats as well.

As for the Brewers, they have six games at home, against the weak Pirates, and then the Cubs. With the Cubs having already clinched, it seems unlikely that Lou Pinella will play all of his regular players down the stretch, as he will likely get ready for the playoffs.

It seems very possible that both the Mets and Phillies will make the playoffs. For the Mets, I dont see the realistic chance that Philly is going to tank at home against the bad Braves and Nationals. It seems that the best the Mets can hope for now is to play well this week, and take the wild card.

It will be a very interesting week. I will be interested to hear other opinions, as well as opinions on the AL races as well.

My guess is the second alternative, agreeing with you.

I am much more worried about the NL West, where the Dodges play their last three games in SF, home of evil incarnate, namely the hated jints, while Arizona finishes up at home.
:devil: <==== hated jints
