how would you program a robot to be ticklish?

#include"ticklish.h"

main()
{
int = tickle, laughter;

if tickle=1;
laughter=1;

return 0;

}

*I'M SUCH A GEEK*

If I were writing such an algorithm, I'd include a random element as part of the reaction so that it's not predictable and therefore eventually boring 😀

Tickling robots would be the single most boring thing ever.

See, I am very psychological when it comes to tickling. I don't just want her to laugh; I want her to know that she's my pet; I want her to fear the ticklish sensations; I want her to have an inner struggle when she realizes that the tickling is turning her on, and she has to fight to control her reactions; I want her to feel submissive and obedient. Robots cannot possibly have these feelings, therefore, what the fuck is the point?

Thing is, Viper, in 100 or so years it would be entirely feasible to program all those factors in...not just laughter, but fear/excitement/sexuality etc...just needs more research into what goes on when someone is tickled 😉

Imo, the only thing that could possibly be a barrier to you enjoying tickling a robot would be the knowledge that it is, infact, a robot.

That's enough, though. Personally, I would find it rather disturbing to know that I am partaking in something so intimate with a being that had no feelings and no way to truly, honestly reciprocate those feelings of affection. A program does only what you teach it to do...there' no self awareness, there's no emotion, there's no...humanity.

Auotonomous Robotic beings will never replace humans, except for those who feel as though dealing humans is too complicated.

In 100 years we won't have to program shit. Just say "yo robot, be ticklish" and you'll have your ticklish robot (which will also have emotions and be self aware). Programming is so early-21st century....

Well first of all i´d programm the robot to be more or less human. The most important aspect: i´ll give it a subconscious part. How? Pretty easy. I use two computer units. One for it´s conscious self and another one to simulate our subconscious parts. The subconscious part will have acces to all memories of the conscious part and will process them generating experiences...and then "mailing" the result to the other computer-unit. Yet without a reason and without being entirely specific. The conscious part will (just like a human) never be able to tell the exact reason why the subconscious part suggest a decision so it´ll be pretty much like when WE have what we call "instincts". The ticklishness as well as the robots reaction to it will be implanted in the subconscious part which will be gained control to some degree (twitching, laughter, etc). The conflict between the robots two parts should be similar to that of a human. The conscious part WANTS control yet the tickling takes that control away. Then add subconscious reactions like sexual arousement or fear which will also overflood the conscious part...With this one should be able to simulate things like pain, emotions and several other "human" traits.

No matter how real the reactions might seem i don't think that would do it for me.I want a lee who enjoys being tickled and i want to be able to interact with her as a human being.No matter how real it might seem a machine is a machine to me.

I would buy several - or imagine a holodeck program like on Star Trek - you'd have a room in the basement, put in the cartridge or program in whatever form, and you could have any tickling situation and ticklee you want.

a machine is a machine to me.

In 100 years (or more), who knows, perhaps machines will be at a sentient/near sentient level - at which point, you have to start to redefine the meaning of machine - traditionally a mechanism which is controlled by humans to make their lives easier. It would no longer be a machine if it was not completely controlled by humans.

It would be ace though, if it worked...hope they perfect cryogenic freezing before that happens, so I can be there to see it out 😀

I would still have to pass.No matter how lifelike it seemed i would still know the truth of the matter.I think Viper summed it up very nicely in his post.

Okay... that's hot.

If you look at the developement technology had within the last 20 years robots in 100 years might be easily able to be human. The thing is: before you can create a robot that is human you´d need to understand what makes us human. After all we are also some type of machine (one made from flesh though). The fastest and best computer is of no use for you if you don´t know what to order. I mean: what are feelings? Is it something magical? Or some godly spell? No. It´s generated by our biological bodies. We are able to manipulate the genes far enough to have an ear growing on a mouse´s back. We create machines which can operate an entire factory on it´s own. Look at the developements in computers. 15 years ago computergames had crappy graphics and were rather simple. Look at what modern games can offer. And the time this technology had is not even 1/4 of 100 years. A robot that looks human and has emotions like one does not seem to be a real problem. Didn´t they actually create something like a robot baby in japan? Hell we can even give blind people some basic type of seeing.

Magnificently, using AI - Artificial Intelligence.

But when I do AI, it stands for Almost Implemented.

The Star Trek Holodeck idea, sounds promising, but with my "luck", the photonic ticklee would reprogram the holodeck so that she is a tickler, par hysterically agonizing excellence.
