So I have a friend of mine who lives far from me but is into tickling like us.. and i text with her enough that have gotten into a habit of just sending replies to her without looking at the name.. WELL, my boss at one of my jobs sent me a text on what time to be at someplace, so there for he was the last text the was stored before i erased them. Thinking i'm texting to my friend talking about tickling, i just pull up the last text and go straight to reply without looking to see who i was sending it to.. i sent 'i fantasizes quite a bit what it would be like to be tied down and excessively tickled by an evil sadistic dominatrix' to my boss, yeah. then i get a text 'wrong person'.. i didn't know what to say so i texted back to my boss 'ha ha awkward'.. when i get to work we both started laughing, so my embarrestment didn't hang on for long but thank goodness that text didn't go to my parents or most of the people i know..

Oh my god, I've thought about this happening before - what a nightmare! I'm glad the two of you laughed it off and that it ended up being no big deal.
One time I wrote an e-mail complaining about someone and then sent it straight to that person I was complaining about! Instead of hitting "forward", I hit "reply" and then had to write an apology when I realized what I'd done.
E-mail and IM's are amazing when it comes to how we can communicate with each other, but we can definitely get ourselves into trouble sometimes eh?

The other day, I had something similar happen to me, but this was with someone I didnt even know. Luckily,nothing happened.
I was communicating with a female forum member in private message, and then the person decided they wanted to e-mail with me at our personal e-mails, instead of doing the PM thing, because they arent always on forum. So, after giving me their personal email address, they invited me to ask them tickling questions. I wrote down their email address, and then emailed them a bunch of tickling questions. The problem was, the forum members email address was their name, and then a number 2 after it. The email address I sent the questions to, because I wasnt paying attention, was just the name, with no 2 after it. so I had emailed tickle questions to some random wrong person! I quickly composed an apology email to the erroneous email address, and so far have not heard back, luckily. Now, I have the right email address saved in my address book. In the four and a half years that I've been here, I've emailed with other forum members at their personal email addresses, and this has never happened to me.
This was a bit of a different take on the wrong text message post in this thread, but, as it was like a "sorry, wrong address" thing as well, I figured I'd post about it.

Ohhhhh yeah, been there.
I once pasted one of 'our' website addresses into what I thought was my browser address window, but if course it was actually an IM window that had popped up on my screen when I wasn't watching. Off sails this IM message with this touchy URL to a friend of mine.
I skated on that one.
Lesson learned. IM is only allowed to be active on my machine when I'm researching products at Home Depot, or learning about potting soil on a gardening website. 😀

Yeah, e-mail buttons/addresses can be another trip-up along with IM.
Guess we better start examining what our computers are going to do before mindlessly smacking that enter button.

I would have quit and probably moved to another state. Even though you guys laughed it off I would always feel somewhat uncomfortable around him.

When I first was reading the story and saw that you sent it to your boss, I thought he was going to think you were talking to him. It would've been worse if that were the case. At least he automatically knew you were talking to someone else and just laughed it off. Who knows, maybe he is a member of the community.
Well headsnap, me, my boss and his boss are the only three people in the company so it wont be spreading around much.. now it wouldn't surprise me the least if my boss told his boss, both are long friends.. i would imagine down the road they may tease me about it, but i can handle them.. in fact i think since that has happened i can handle a situation like that no problem.. least i say that
