What song describes your life. Give me the name of your song and the reason why it does. For me it's John Denver's "Poems Prayers and Promises." This sone is me.

Poems, Prayers, and Promises

I've been lately thinking
about my life's time
all the things I've done
and how it's been,
and I can't help believin'
in my own mind
I know I'm gonna hate to see it end.
I've seen a lot of sunshine
slept out in the rain
spent a night or two all on my own
I've known my lady's pleasures
had myself some friends
spent a time or two in my own home.

I have to say it now it's been good life all in all,
it's really fine to have a chance to hang around.
and lie there by the fire and watch the evening tire,
while all my friends and my old lady
sit and pass a pipe around
and talk of poems and prayers and promises
and things that we believe in,
how sweet it is to love someone,
how right it is to care,
how long it's been since yesterday
what about tomorrow
and what about our dreams
and all the memories we share,

Days they pass so quickly now,
the nights are seldom long
time around me whispers when it's cold.
The changes somehow frightens me,
still I have to smile
it turns me on to think of growing old.
For tho' my life's been good to me
there's still so much to do
so many things my mind has never known
I'd like to raise a family
I'd like to sail away
and dance across the mountains on the moon.

I have to say it now it's been good life all in all,
it's really fine to have a chance to hang around.
and lie there by the fire
and watch the evening tire,
while all my friends and my old lady
sit and pass a pipe around
and talk of poems and prayers and promises
and things that we believe in,
how sweet it is to love someone,
how right it is to care,
how long it's been since yesterday
what about tomorrow
what about our dreams
and all the memories we share

For me it's....

"New World Man" from Rush where Geddy Lee says "He's wise enough to win the world but fool enough to lose it"

The first few verses don't really apply to me but the rest I have here does.... Bob Seger "Against the Wind"....

And the years rolled slowly past
And I found myself alone
Surrounded bv stranners I thought were my friends
I found myself further and further from my home
And I guess I lost my way
There were oh so many roads
I was living to run and running to live
Never worried about paying or even how much I owed
Moving eight miles a minute for months at a time
Breaking all of the rules that would bend
I began to find myself searchin'
Searching for shelter again and again
Against the wind
A little something against the wind
I found myself seeking shelter against the wind

Well those drifters days are past me now
I've got so much more to think about
Deadlines and commitments
What to leave in, what to leave out

Against the wind
I'm still runnin' against the wind
Well I'm older now and still
Against the wind

It still makes me shiver thinking about the past and of the ways used to be for me and the way they are now.

Springsteen's 'Growing Up', the second cut on his very first album. I was struck by it the first time I ever heard it. "I stood stone like at midnight, suspended in my masquerade...I combed my hair, it was just right, and commanded the night brigade..."

A song about individuality.

"Thank You for Being a Friend" by Andrew Gold...

Why? That's how I've always tried to live my life....being a friend, making others feel better about themselves (the same way my mom lived her life before me 🙂

"The Show Must Go On"
Music and lyrics by Freddie Mercury, performed by Queen

XOXO

"Middle Ground" - Rik Emmett

Times are strange, seems like nothing lasts
We watch the changes go by so fast;
The fear of the future only makes me long for the past

Over my head, got in too deep
Weighted down with the promises I could not keep;
Between a rock and a hard place, no room to be found...

'Cause there ain't no Middle Ground

Everywhere you look, some kind of war is going on
A no man's land is never gonna stay that way for long
Better climb off that fence, boy, before somebody shoots you down

Hey...they're gonna shoot you down! And they'll say:

"Hey boy, just who'se side are you on anyway?"
Well, I haven't got the heart to act my part out in thier play
But in the end, you've got no choice
It's the only game in town...

'Cause there ain't no Middle Ground

Last night I dreamed of a long-forgotten place,
High upon a hill, with the cool wind in my face
The air was clean and clear and I could see for miles around

And in my heart, I knew I had come home
And in my soul there was a peace I'd never known
And so I lay my claim to this sacred place I've found...

And I Stand the Middle Ground
I Stand the Middle Ground

What song describes your life. Give me the name of your song and the reason why it does.

Strangely enough, I am a composer myself and the songs that best fit my life would be my songs.

For starters, I have don't have a lot to write lyrics about (nothing for a pop song at least, so I don't tend to try).
A lot of time, effort, thought, emotion etc goes into each piece.
The end product is something I love and think is very worth the effort.
My music has a large mixture of emotions and feelings (relaxing, contemplative, ambient, high energy, highly interesting, always changing), but I havn't written anything thats depressive for anything more than a moment.
Unfortunately, thhe end product is also rather unusual compared to all the other music out there, so it tends to be only listened to by my friends, family and people that can appreciate whats inside the music.
Despite the quality of the music... probably because its a little different, it has attracted no groupies so far. In fact, the only people that would want to hang off my every note tend to live very far away.
Even with all of that, I love making music and derive much fun out of it.

Change a few words here and there and thats my life down to a tee.
