Last night put me 100% full on the side of people that want to see this disastrous excuse for a College Football national championship put to bed. I was at least 5% on the side of the BCS...cause there was one good thing about it...each time there was a consensus number 1 and 2, the championship game has been nothing short of spectacular. This night broke that pattern...so I see absolutely zero reason to even have a modicum of confidence in this....so I just don't know what to do...just go with the folks wanting to take this cartel down, but its a big uphill battle.

Are you saying texas shouldn't have been in the game, or neither team should have? This game definitely wasn't a blowout. Texas was down by 3 with the ball late in the fourth quarter, without their heisman candidate quarterback. Everything after that was just a quarterback who's never played a game before who was making mistakes left and right.

I'm not saying anything like that. You look at every other sport in the country as well as other classifications of college football from I-AA (or FCS...whatever) on down, they have playoffs to decide who the national championship is. And we see that Boise State is voted #4, behind Texas and Florida that have lost games, which is a joke for me. I've officially had it with this system and I want to see it dismantled and a 16-team postseason tournament established. Those teams play it out and the bowl system for the other teams that aren't in the tournament.

Remove the "C" from BCS and that's what the current system is. It's a shame really since college football is such a great game, but no one cares about the bowl games unless "your team" is playing in the game. There would be so much more fan interest with some sort of playoff system. They could make the money work to satisfy everyone. It's just a bunch of BS the way they do it now.

Boise State is undefeated at 14-0 and they have built an offensive powerhouse there and their defense really stepped up against TCU. They should have a chance at a title. As it is now, no team is "winning" a national title; a team is being named "National Champion". They need to have playoffs or stop naming a national champion; let that subdivision be what the name implies...the Football "Bowl" Subdivision. I'm a University of Richmond fan and I'm proud that we "won" a National Title in 2008 the way it should be won.

Yes, the BCS is and has been a joke.

What took you so long to see it?! 😀

What's funny is that the last 3-4 and/or 5/6 BCS 'title games' have been competitive and exciting.

But that doesn't cover up the fact that undefeated teams still remain w/ no title shot after the bowls are over, certain teams/conferences have no legit shot of REACHING the 'title game', regardless of their or other teams records and how certain schools are favored in the BCS standings based on history and/or conference.

The whole system is garbage. An eight-team (at least!) playoff is needed to make it legit.

In the mean time, every BCS champion should have an asterix next to it in the record books.

I really hate that teams can claim a share of the national title without actually playing in the championship game.

Even the ESPN commentators were saying prior to the Championship game that whoever won or lost, Boise State would finish the season ranked #2 out of common sense. What happened? Well, common sense went out the window. I'd put Boise on the field with Alabama to see what happens.

So, twenty minutes after the game's over, ESPN's talking about next year's pre-season favorites and they talk about the top 5....Alabama, Texas, Florida, Virginia Tech (who the same commentator had previously said could lose to Boise State next year and help set them up for a championship run) and Ohio State (probably because they finally actually won a bowl game they walked into).

A playoff system doesn't even have to drag on like detractors say it will. Keep the bowl system and all of those "Tampax Feminine Protection Backdoor Bowl"-type games and playoff the winners of the major bowl games. Adds maybe two weeks.

By "finally won a bowl game," did you mean our 5-3 BCS record?
