Ok, so I lost. No biggie. I took the Lakers -1.5 today. Not a stupid bet, just a losing bet. I was inclined to go along with the announcers assessment that the Lakers got the shots they wanted in game 3, they just didn't execute and hit them. I was thinking that wasn't going to happen two games in a row.

I was wrong. Kobe and Gasol were invisible in the 4th. Not making excuses as the Lakers get their share of calls at home too, but from what I saw the Lakers got pretty much mugged and rolled. Ah well. That's life in the NBA.

Tomorrow is another day and I took the Celtics +4.

Thats because Kobe ''killer instinct '' Bryant let you and the Lakers down. hahahahaha:bouncybou

Right you are Flock haha. Two quarters of "killer instinct" doesn't win games.

Over the years, there have been many scandals in basketball, both professional and college, about players purposely letting the opposing team beat the point spread. There have also been scandals about referees betting on games and calling fouls to help their own bet. Given that, I wouldn't bet on any basketball game. Predicting a sports outcome is hard enough to begin with, and the possibility of cheating and corruption makes the risk too high.

(Full disclosure: I have made very few sports bets in my life, perhaps only 5 or 6, and every single one has been on the Dodgers to win.)

I would think it harsh to judge an entire sport because of the corruption of a few. Given that, Joe Jackson would have ended all betting on baseball years ago.

Pro athletes make so much money today compared to say the 50's it would be hard to believe there would be a need to fix games...Yet I was not satisfied with the NBA's investigation of ref Tim Donaghy...Even a jerk like Pete Rose didn't bet on games that he played in... They even take substances that harm their bodies in the long run so thy can perform better... The college basketball fixes (CCNY and others) of the late 40's and early 50's were the pinnacle of fixes...I know there are several others but I think none were worse then the NCAA and NIT fixes of he late 40's and early 50's.
