Ok I'm pretty desperate now.I've got this assigment to do,it's due 26th Jan.I really need to get it outa the way coz I've got another biggy to do in for the 8th Feb.

Bit of background......
A good few months ago for another module we have to run an interview as an interview panel and then be an interviewee. We were being assessed for how we prepared and ran as an interview panel.

Now I've got this assignment to do to write about the following:
1. through appropriate reflection and with reference to relevant literature, appraise (i)your preparation for(ii) and your performance during the placement selection interview.
2. assess what you have learnt from participating in the exercise and indicate how you might apply this learning when facing 'real' placement selection processes in the coming months.

firstly I didn't do a thing to prepare for being the interviewee for that assignment and secondly I didn't learn a thing. The only thing I do know was that being an interviewer for the assessment was soooo much harder than interviewing irl-coz this was filmed and was being assessed on.Being the interviewee I just made stuff up as I went along...ended up babbling most of the time.

So reason I'm posting this is has anyone got any good ideas of how I could have prepared for the interview?

At the mo I can only think of having a practice interview with a previous boss and asking my boss to check my CV for me.

Also what things could I say about what I have learnt?

Any ideas would be most welcome!!
Thanks in advance!

A friend in need is a friend indeed. Ok - lets see what we've got:

Appraisal - 'Evaluation of the quality/worth of an item/person'

This kinda sounds like those 'preperation, method and evaluation' things we used to have to do after science experiments at GCSE coursework.

Lets break it down:

Evaluate your preperation for the interview:

As the Interviewer:
- Did you have a set of notes of questions you wanted to ask?
- Did you have their CV in front of you - so you need'nt waste time answering needless questions since their already in front of you!!

As the interviewee:
- Did you prepare in advance for the questions you believe might be asked - if so what were they - because obviously then you could prepare a prepared answer for the interview panel straight back at them - this hsows determination as well as self awareness - that you had thought about the interview before you got there - ie. planning!

Performce:

Interviewer:

- Did you ask all the right/ neccissary questions for the job - the firm is relying on you to pick the right person for the job? Did you need to use any inicitaive - ie. if the interviewee highlighted something new that you were'nt expecting.
- 'Delievery' - What was your personality like as the interviewer - were you plesant or stricktly to the point - if the latter this could put the interviewee on edge so he/she lost their normal confidence and so possible ensured you made an inncorrect decision about their usefulness to you/the company.
- Body Talk - what were your stance? eye contact - or did you look down at the papers like you were'nt interested?

Interviewee:

- What was the delievery of your answers like? - did you so confidence in the face of questioning? Did you shy aware? what were your communication skills like? Was your english clear and precise?
- Body Talk - Stance? Eye contact with interviewer so you showed you could make good contact and were'nt intimidated? did you look down to the floor a lot? did you talk while using your hands to explain your points, or did they stay inert right by your sides? All about Confidence!!!

What do they mean by literature? I'm a bit lost on that one!!

Lemme know if I'm on the right track here or not making any sense?!!!

Wow that's brilliant.....thanks for your help with that.....like how you've broken that down....so it's also helped me with the layout of it too!*hugs*

When attending interviews I find it hard to make a good first impression for positive reasons. Thus, rather than trying and failing at that, I instead take a large machete dipped in red ink and walk in wearing my snake-eye contact lenses and cowled Gregorian robe chanting about how Yog Sotthoth is the key and the gate, making sure to greet any requests for CVs or referees with a guttural snarl and wolf-like howl. Personally, I feel that if you're not doing these things as an interviewee, you're failing miserably.
