I made a post about a year or two ago about not being able to say the word "tickle" in actual conversation. Well, yesterday, I did it twice! Previously I had met a friend who was into tickling on omegle, and I attempted to say it, and later only was comfortable saying to him. Yesterday I said it out loud, and asked my friend who I had used to tickle from high school on if he was still ticklish.

This year I hope to be bolder in tickling people and making it "normal" or "no big deal." I realized that a lot of people would just shrug it off or are okay with it. Or if they're not okay with it, most likely they'll tickle you back. Last year I was always shy, but I realized that if you don't try, you're never going to know! I can even admit that I like it for happy, playful reasons in general! So I guess you could say this is my new years resolution. To generally be more open and accepting about everything that I am and be able to talk about them with others. :]

It's funny you say this, because I still struggle with actually saying "it". I wonder why that is?

Not sure if congrats or sarcasm. 😛 either way i'll take it. haha thanks guys.

@Iloveddub, yeah! I've had trouble saying it ever since i was little. I thought that if i said it, it was a trap, as if i were asking for it. Like if you had toys like tickle me elmos as a kid, they were dead giveaways. But really, everyone likes it in some aspect i guess, childhood, attachment or not. 😛

I have this problem also, but i've noticed it's only in English, my mother tongue. I acquired a second language as an adult and have no problems saying equivalent words.

Anyway, congratulations!

Cool. Now that you've finally said the word, you'll have to start using its variations in complete sentences. Try to incorporate the following into your next conversation:

Does this tickle?
Let's see who's more ticklish, you or me.
I'm most ticklish right here.
Am I a good tickler?
etc.

AHH you tease! xP One game at a time.

Congrats Marz! Funny enough I have that problem too, and I'm just starting to get more used to saying it.

Mine wasn't sarcasms.

I've had that problem too, and first let me say CONGRATULATIONS, and that I am very happy for you.

Second let me say that I'm well-versed in psychology, particularly as it relates to ego-defenses and sexuality, and in my case the problem was underlying shame. There was a non-acceptance of that part of myself, a self-judgment, an unconscious fear that if I said "tickle," it would seem as weird to everyone else as it does to me, and everyone would be able to see through me to this part of myself that I wasn't ready to allow to be seen. With me the inhibition even included "foot" and "toes" and "feet," and, somewhat humorously to present company I hope, I used to go as far as to say "legs" or "ankles" or "shoes" whenever I could in order to avoid saying those words.

I also experienced a grace period, when all of that fell away and insecurities I had had for my entire life vanished completely. The feeling is one of innocence, forgiven-ness. Marzbarz, seek this feeling, cultivate this feeling. During that time I felt I could sit next to a girl at school whom I'd never met before, compliment her on her feet, and ask if they were ticklish. I didn't end up doing it, but I knew that I could, simply because I was so COMFORTABLE WITH MYSELF that it seemed as normal as asking for the time.

You're on your way! And we're all behind you. If you want to talk more, feel free to PM me. 🙂

I am so glad I'm not alone either on this! I couldn't say foot or toes either. I still hang back a little, and can say tickle in this community, because here, we're understood. This is my safe place. It makes more sense why I couldn't tell my husband for years. I couldn't say the words, let alone explain myself.

I've always had trouble saying it out loud unless it's to my husband, or my lee. And even then, it seems I can only say it when I'm teasing them - I can't say it in casual conversation! When I'm torturing my usual lee I whisper it in his ear, usually "Aww, does that tickle?"
My husband has no trouble saying it, and I love that about him - plus it turns me on to hear him say 'the word'.
