A friend just sent me the following....

CBS Report

Keep a watch out for people standing near you in the checkout line at
retail stores, restaurants, grocery stores, etc who have a camera cell
phone in hand. With the camera cell phones, they can take! a picture
of your credit card, which gives them your name, number, and expiration
date. CBS reported this type of identification theft is one of the
fastest growing scams today. Be aware of your surroundings, forward to
all your friends and family.

Good reminder to be aware of your surroundings when doing the simplest of things. Unfortunately you can never be too careful.

Yeah, I recall posting this a while ago...

...can't remember HOW long ago, but it's been a good while. Good share, Ann. People who would do this are scum. You can't be too aware of your surroundings, IMHO.

This is why I only use those pre-paid credit cards from the store. When you want to buy something you have to put money into it, but if anyone gets your card number, they will only get what little you ahve put into it, and no more. you can do a check online to see if there was any unauthorized purchases on teh card and cancel it or get a new one issued. And you can put the money in before you make your purchase, so then the theif will only have the short time that you put the money in and the time you make the purchase to take it. And I always check online if the money is still there before I make the purchase.

To totally shred any old receipts , checks or bills you decide to throw away. I burn mine.
