My choice for this poll is Larry Bowa. While he was fired from the Phillies, and he didnt achieve the NL East title, or Wild Card, during his tenure, that the Phillies sought, it seems to be that if George Steinbrenner fires the mild mannered, and sometimes probably too laid back Torre, that he may well go with a manager who will light a fire under the Yankees seemingly listless team. The best choice for this, seems to me, to be his coach, Larry Bowa.

One side note. Another name I forgot to include in the list of possible new Yankees managers would be pitching coach Ron Guidry. He would seem to make a sensible choice. He's a career Yankee, and one of the greatest pitchers in the history of the franchise. The only reason that I think Steinbrenner might not make Guidry the new manager, is that Guidry is too laid back. After the laid back Torre, I feel that the Yankee owner will go with someone more emotional.
