The forecast for NYC for this weekend on

www.weather.com

Supposedly is

A 90% chance of a "Significant snowstorm" from Friday night into Saturday night.

Great timing because..

Saturday is yours truly's birthday!

Woo hoo!

Right now I have plans with friends for dinner on Saturday, as my father is going to be out of town on business.

Hopefully five days away the forecast will change, but, right now, they seem to be leaning toward a strong chance of a major snowstorm this weekend.

Well a lot can change from now until Saturday so hopefully it holds off.

Well, Mitch....it is the middle of January.....EGADS!

I know, Wally.

Yes, rdhd, I know it';s the middle of January.

The latest forecast on www.weather.com

Seems to total 12 inches of snow between Friday night and Saturday night, with 5 to 8 inches during the day Saturday. '

Freezing cold today, Heavy Snow for my birthday.

Woo hoo!

According to..

www.weather.com.

Winter Storm Jonas has been named.

The forecast is for 1 to 3 inches Friday night, 3 to 5 inches Saturday, 1 to 3 inches Saturday night, and a trace on Sunday.

Increasingly, it looks like this birthday will be spent, alone, and snowed in.

Eh.., the pit falls of being born in the middle of winter.

Well, looks like the forecast amounts have gone down....maybe, just maybe..... at any rate, Happy Birthday, Mitch

The forecast posted this morning for Friday night and Saturday still seems to total a foot of snow or more. They post pieced together forecasts for time periods.

I'll be very surprised if NYC doesnt get a significant snow

Winter Storm Watches are now as far north as Philadelphia.

As for NYC, the forecast for www.weather.com seems to be for 10 to 16 inches of snow.

This is going to be a birthday to forget lol.

This will be our first snow for this area. I understand that Washington D. C. will get the brunt of it.

The total accumulation on www.weather.com seems to have increased to a total of 12 to 18 inches, with 8 to 12 during the day on Saturday, and another 3 to 6 inches Saturday night.

That sucks that it's falling on your birthday, Mitchell. Hopefully you'll still be able to find something enjoyable to do =] I'm wondering how much snow we'll get here in Maine, if any. Yuck.

Thanks,

Now I just awakened to find out that a Blizzard Watch has been issued for NYC for 8 to 12 inches.

The snowfall is going to be .. heavy, but not.. extreme. The reason the Blizzard Watch seems to be in place is because of the high winds of 50 mph or more.

Oh, well, we cant control Mother Nature.

Well, the latest is that they named the storm "Jonas". Any storm that they give a name to is no joke but at least for your sake as far as your Birthday goes it looks like D.C. and Baltimore are gonna get the brunt of it. New York City will be bad but manageable.

The total accumulation for NYC on www.weather.com seems to be up to a foot. WABC TV in NYC is saying 6 inches.

I'll probably stay home and just order food in on my bday. My Dad isnt home, and my friend wont want to drive in the snow.

Just awakened to find out that a Blizzard Warning has been issued for up to a foot of snow.

The latest on www.weather.com calls for 10 to 18 inches of snow.

I already celebrated my birthday last night and today, so tomorrow will be spent chilling in.

As long as my power stays on, all will be okay.

Maybe up to 24 inches in the area in Virginia I am in. 😱 Tomorrow is supposed to be worse. So far,it is a powdery snow.

Well, it is D-Day for you guys in the northeast....hope it isn't as bad as they say. You should be here in Georgia - the threat of snow.....bread, milk, beer(!!!) depleted. And Mitch - was wise to celebrate early; nothin' wrong with that, and avoid the weekend crowds anyways. And, folks - WE WILL ALL SURVIVE THIS THING! Just like last year, and the year before, and the year..... I think we've all fallen into the "gotta do it now, right now, not later" routine. Speed along, nothing slowing us down. Well, welcome to mother nature, telling US what to do.

Well said. I know I will be not driving until Sunday at the earliest. Not making any money sitting. N But then,I am not in a ditch or a median because my rig slid off the road.

Thanks, Rd.

I would have gone out tomorrow night if not for the blizzard. I go places on Saturdays, out to eat, etc. We were hampered because of the blizzard.

For my bday, assuming they can get.. across the street for lunch, I'm going to have.. Chinese food lol. I wanted to go out to lunch on Sunday, but my friend Barney doesn't think the roads will be safe enough to drive by then. With a foot and a half of snow he's probably right.
