Thats right the fantasitc Windows 7 does not have a default email program :bugeyed: I mean who needs email anyway in the 21st century. Not like anyone uses it. :bonk:

Way to go Microsoft.

For Windows 7 the only Micorsoft option is to get something called Windows Live Mail. Its free but not sure how good it is.

lol We still use windows xp...no sad updates for us...lol

Maybe they figured it wasn't needed. There are tons of sites that offer free e-mail. Plus any internet service provider does as well.

Perhaps thats the reasoning but for a 200 buck upgrade I should not have to search for an email program. Not like Microsoft is hurting for cash. LOL

I don't see the issue either, as I've never used outlook or outlook express except at one job, and even that was mostly for intra/inter-office communication. I'm more than fine without it.

I have always used Outlook Express, I happen to like it. Look for everyone who is super computer savy its probably no big deal. For those of us who like things to be simple and easy. Its a big deal. There is no reason why after paying a ton of money for a OS it should not come with something as standard as an email program. I am sorry Microsoft dropped the ball here.

gmail is your friend. You don't have to worry about transfering files around, or losing stuff when your machine dies, or syncing your laptop, or any of that.

Come to the Google side. 🙂

Macs come with AppleMail, which I'm very happy with. Windows fail.

Why is it called Windows 7, anyway? I don't recall a Windows 6 or Windows 5. 😛

I think its the 7th windows program

1) Windows 3.1

2) Windows 95

3) Windows 98

4) Windows ME

5) Windows XP

6) Windows Vista

7) Windows 7 (now without email 😛)

.... Windows 8 will probably have no internet browser, no drivers, and make you install your own USB ports. 😛

Dont you love progress.

I heard a review its faster to get on the net (right out of the box) with Windows 98 then with windows 7 LOL

You forgot Windows 2000. 😛

Also, aside from all the free e-mail options available, like how you can get Thunderbird from Mozilla, it's a way for Microsoft to get people to buy the latest Office program to get Outlook.

It reminds me of when I made the mistake of updating My Norton Internet Security to the latest version, which took AWAY my pop-up blocker, since that was now a stand-alone program for purchase! 😡

Windows ME is the WORST piece of crap OS ever created. Blue Screen of death every 3rd time I turned on my computer.

I never bother using a desktop email program... Yahoo! Mail works just fine.

Why try to fix or replace that which isn't broken?

Yeah, strictly speaking the first three should be Windows NT 3(.51), Windows NT 4, and Windows 2000. Windows 9x and ME are their own little branch that died off at least party because ME sucked as bad as Coup de Grace says.

God, I LOATHED the abortion that was Windows ME. All the BSODs and vanished My Documents files were a never-ending source of frustration.

Welcome to the world of companies knowing that you need something and therefor that they can exploit it. Please don't let the virus that you got because you didn't buy the software of the people that made the virus hit you in the hard drive on the way out.

Gmail baby. When Google™ takes over the world in 3 years, you'll want to be on the winning team.

I didnt really forget it I always thought of Windows 2000 as bad offshoot of Windows NT. It was suppose to be business and personal OS combined but rather failed at both.

I am sure you are right about the office program thing. Microsoft said it was a way of streamlining their OS so it would operate better. How bad an OS have to be that it cant run an email program as part of its stansard set of programs. Gee why not eliminate all the drivers and jusr run it safe mode all the time so it will be even more efficent. LOL
