After awhile of my familys computer be all messed up from Script errors to the Printer not printing and all kinds of things wrong on Windows 98. Tonight our friend that my parents know came in and installed XP Pro onto our computer. so now were we're running XP Pro no more Windows 98 🙂 Glad to have our computer working the way it should be again

Glad you sorted it out! I know I have come about 2 seconds away from throwing my computer through the window SEVERAL times!

Glad to hear it! A work of advice: If you haven't done so already, GET ALL UPDATES AND PATCHES FOR IT AT MICROSOFT'S WINDOWS UPDATE!!!!

http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

If you do not, viruses galore will take you down with the force of ten thousand angry sumo wrestlers!!!

We installed Norton antivirus and updated that and we also checked the Firewall to be enabled on XP Pro so we should be ok for now. and we even installed a pop up blocker as well. But i'll still tell my parents about that thanks DivineShadow

ps. why are you running windows 98 XP Home or XP Pro?

I run XP Home and have seen what certain viruses did to unprotected computers. It would not be fun to just finish installing Windows and suddenly have it crash due to a worm like Blaster, which is still circulating, amazingly. Good call with the Anti-virus and enabling the firewall. You've already done pretty much all that is needed. The only other thing I can suggest is Ad-Aware, available free at www.lavasoft.com It scans for spyware on your PC, spyware being any file, likely a cookie, that sends info on where you go, what you type, and what is on your comp. to someone, who can then use it to target you. Even worse is that it eats away at your internet speed, sometimes cutting it by more than half. I am positive that if your comp. has been used for more than an hour on the net, and ESPECIALLY if RealPlayer is installed, that you have spyware.
