I've got myself tickets to Australia vs Uruguay for the Rugby World Cup, baby! Only $15 Australian coz I'm a student and I get to see the Wallabies on the field, doing what they do best (steamrollering opponents).

I might even get to go see one of the low pool games, like New Zealand vs the US. It'd be funny to see NZ just score again and again and again, which is what Australia vs Romania might be like unless the Romans (I know, I know it's wrong...) get their act together.

Rugby--that's like soccer (football as it's known outside my country), but rougher, right? 😕 😀

Very rough! A lot rougher than those bunch of pansy-tossers who call themselves American footballer but have to have more armour than a challenger tank on, before they'll totter outside of the dressing room. 😉

Hmmm...

This thread needs a bit of red indian commentary! Wherever can he be? Q

Red's already made his opinions known on another thread just underneath this one. When the man wants to make a point, nothing stands in his way!

I just want to take this time to announce that I shall be paying for these tickets with money I earned myself through hard work, and it feels pretty damn good.

Money=work

Hmmm..I'd rather find Bill Gates wallet myself, but whatever floats your boat, as they say. Q

So is severe or even fatal injury common in rugby? 🙁 Sounds like fun--NOT! 😛

There was a fatal injury at school-boy level a couple of years ago. The coach made a mistake and put a tall skinny guy in the front row of the scrum. When the scrum packs down, both front rows smack together (like in american football). The kid got neck damage and died in hospital. I know someone who played rep. rugby for a while, and now he's got no cartilage left between his vertebrae because of the scrums packing down and hitting together.

Other than that, there aren't many more injuries than other sports that use lots of padding.

Nope, not at all. No more or less injuries than you'd get in any other contact sports. I guess Englishmen are just much tougher than yankee pankees. 😀😀😀
