Forty-three years ago today Dr. King was struck down by an assassins bullet while standing on the balcony of his motel room in Memphis Tennessee. His I Have a Dream speech, delivered from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on August 28 1963, is as moving and powerful today as it was then. A towering figure of the 20th century. R.I.P. Dr. King.

Truly a great loss of a great humanitarian. His words still live on in many hearts and I still get chills when I hear his words. He was a powerful speaker full of compassion for all people. He is missed but he left a legacy for us to continue.

Thanks for the reminder of the anniversary, Bugman.
He was a great human being and a great leader.

Yes. His legacy belongs to all people everywhere who strive for freedom and human dignity.

He was a great human being and a great leader.

Indeed he was Mils. His closing remarks in his I've Been To the Mountaintop speech, delivered the night before his murder, are eerily prophetic.

I hope the "younger" generation truly understand and appreciate the efforts of Dr. King. Hard to believe he was killed FORTY THREE YEARS AGO. Time flies...

April 4, 1968 was one of the most tragic days in American history. Dr King was taken from us far too soon, at such a young age. He accomplished so much in his short life, and there's no telling what other great things he might have accomplished, had he lived.

R. I.P. Dr King. Your legacy lives on, forever, for African Americans, and for all people.

Mitch
