because of inclement weather ?

Should teams like Green Bay , Pittsburgh , Chicago , New England and New Yorks have retractable roof stadiums when inclement weather shows up especially for playoff games ?

Does this cause unfair advantage for a team like New England if they host playoff game with snow and wind and play a team like say Jacksonville or Miami ?

It probably does but it's a part of football. Every stadium is different, bringing their own environment. Some teams have the weather as an advantage while others have crowd noise. The best teams learn to cope with it and can win in any environment.

Both teams have to play in the conditions, whatever they may be. Football has traditionally been played in all sorts of weather- snow, sleet, torrential rain, and monsoons. Personally, I think domed stadiums are pretty silly for football. The fact that Minnesota, Detroit, and Indianapolis, would be cold-weather teams, play in domes just seems odd. Minnesota, in the 70s, seemed to have a psychological edge playing at home in the cold- something they lost in moving to the Metrodome.

If you're a team that doesn't play well in cold weather, than you have to strive to attain home-field throughout the playoffs. Certain teams could be said to hold an advantage (I wouldn't call it unfair) playing at home on astro-turf.

It's football. Gridiron.

Weather is part of the game.

Lambeau. The Ice Bowl. Pats-Raiders 2001. 1982 AFC Championship game.

Screw unfair, if a team can't win a game in inclement weather, they don't deserve to win. Period.

Fiend is 110% right!

Sort of... Then again, some cold places like Minnesota have domes.

Of course, you could say warmer areas have the advantage earlier in the season.

Let's play all games at neutral sights Flock so we don't give teams any advantages. Tell the fans to not say a word so that their is not advantage. Heck...let's play all the games in Dallas so we can showcase that stadium all year round and knock down all the other 31 stadiums. Let's not give any teams any advantages. Wow!!! This is just an unbelievable thread.

I agree with you Fiend 1000%. If teams can't cope they don't belong. A great team wins ANYWHERE regardless. Good job by you Fiend!

It's an advantage, but it certainly isn't unfair. It's home-field advantage. The teams with home-field advantage have earned the right to play at their home stadium in front of their fans and in a climate they're accustomed to by having a better regular season record than their opponent.
