I’m all for protecting your players and getting ready for the play-offs. But, what he done yesterday was just unforgivable. If Payton was getting knocked around; then ok, pull him out.

If they was getting blown out of the game; then ok, pull him out. If they were blowing the Jets out of the game; ok, pull him out. If he didn’t start him at all that game, ok, no problem.

But, to pull Payton and the rest of the starters out of the game in the middle of the 3rd quarter with only a 5 point lead, and put in the 2nd and 3rd stringers to finish the game. That is outrageous. I do not blame the Indy’s fans for bowing. To me the head coach just gave up and forfeited the game to the Jets.

Again, if he would never place his starters on the field in the first place that’s a whole different story. But, to dedicate your best for only a little over a half of a game; then, walk away is acceptable.

NFL AND CBS SHOULD FINE HIM A COUPLE MILLION FOR THAT DECISION!!!

:bsflag:YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!!!
OR
YOU DON’T PLAY AT ALL!!!!!!:bsflag:

So I guess you're a fan of a team who needed Indy to win to make the playoffs.

not sure if you meant me. but, no! i'm not a fan of NFL. I am a fan of sports. It is not good for any sport to have their leaders just lay down in the middle of the game. There is never a good reason for a Pro team to just give up in the middle of a game.

he should have never started them in the first place. my opinion

I wanted to see them go for it. I like Peyton and would've loved to see him go undefeated in the regular season.

On the other hand, this gives Dallas a chance to be the first team to go undefeated through an entire season, which is what everyone wants to see anyway.

In order for Dallas to do that, they'll need a whole new team.

I'm not talking about at this moment. I'm talking about any Dallas team. The Colts loss gives Dallas a chance to be the first 19-0 team 30-years from now if no one ever accomplishes the feat.

I disagree. I think if a team has played well all season and has already locked up home field throughout the playoffs, they can do whatever they damn well please. They've earned that right.

And I think he's playing the starters for most of the game to keep them fresh. You can't sit a starter three weeks in a row and expect them to be playoff ready.

This debate will go on for a long time. I can see the reason of the coaching staff to keep the first string healthy for a better chance of doing well in the play offs, but a disgruntled fan I know has a good arguement too. He payed a lot, and I mean a lot of good money to see his team win every game throughout the season. The fans collectively spend a great amount of money for each game from the price of a ticket to parking and food.

Now some counsilman down in Indy is talking about making the team refund the ticket price for each Indy fan that attended the game.

The way I look at it, better to lose now than in the playoffs. The Patriots went undefeated and look what happened to them. Lost in the game that truly mattered the most.
