If you are going to be printing out mainly photos and need good quality prints then use Inkjet

If you are going to be printing primarily documents and a few pictures that dont need to be top notch quality then go with Laser

Remember, color laser printers cost many many hundreds of dollars so don't buy a color laser printer unless you plan on printing color documents en mass (hell, the color laser cartridges alone set you back $200 for a set). What most people do is buy a good B&W laser printer for a couple hundred bucks and then buy an inkjet for $50 for their occasional color printing.

I have never paid over $100 for a printer. Mostly,I print out tickle art,and documents.

I have a ink jet from Hewlett Packard and it works great I've had it for about 6 years

Unless you're doing office-level printing, go with an inkjet.

Fun fact: The toner heating process by which a laser printer transfers image to paper causes a lot of toner particles to escape into the air. Although the amount of exposure required is insanely high, one could conceivably contract something similar to Black Lung Disease from those particles.

I think the inkjet has won this thread, and rightfully it should have won. You only need laser for commercial reasons. That is for speed, less quality, and have an excuse to runaway from your fellow co-workers because you are 'busy'.
