Oddly enough... I tend to agree with Red and Steve on this one... These people are too busy killing each other to act rationally. Religion has become a major problem in this area, and quite frankly, we're now faced with a situation that is close to "kill 'em all and let God sort them out." I'm not saying we should target innocent civilians, but rebel forces should expect to get annihilated by a vastly superior military force. They'll try their damnedest to keep using religion as a scapegoat, but this is really about oil and power. We might as well complete the job and destroy our enemies without a trace. As for the innocent civilians, the smart ones will be wise not to get in our way, and the U.N. really needs to get involved in this one as well. America can't afford to do this alone.

I found this article in the International Herald Tribune today, and I think it works out well the similarities and the differences between US occupation in Iraq and Israeli occupation of Palestine:

What strikes me most is the fact that Israeli are training US counterinsurgency troops!
