Is it just John Cena fans that get harrassed?

I mean freom what Ive seen its only John Cena fans that get hassled, Ive talked to a couple of CM Punk fans that said they caught flack, but its mostly John Cena fans that get hassled.

I just want to know when is it a crime to cheer and like Cena? I might be getting worked up over nothing but it just doesnt seem right to me, god forbid me or any of my friends say we're John Cena fans or apart of the Cenation, we may as well say we hate America and children.

I seriously would love to hear from CM Punk fans or Miz fans or any fans that catch flack for liking there guy be him Randy Orton, The Miz, CM Punk, Kofi Kingston or whoever it is, even though I doubt they catch as much as Cena fans do.

This is something that really bothers me to no end. :facepalm2:

I think wrestling is one of those industries that goes through cycles where the fans pretty much represent the taste of mainstream society at the time. Look at the 1980's when films like the terminator came out and everyone raved about Arnold even though he was the bad guy in said film; that translated into wrestling when the Road Warriors were on an unstoppable path of squashes in the ring and meant to be feared heels only for the fans to cheer them out the building.

I can remember the days when Cena was a heel and had quite the cult following for a while until the crowd got more and more behind him. Hulk Hogan fans went through it in the mid-nineties, it was only when Hogan was smart enough to reinvent himself as a heel that he breathed new life into his act. For the record at this point I'd love to see Cena go heel, I think it would quite the turn.

I think WWE have certainly got their finger on the pulse in terms of a more reality based story line with Punk at the moment; although going by the past few years whether they go into self destruct mode and ruin it is yet to be seen. The original plan for Raw monday was apparently for Triple H to beat down Punk and have Del Rio to Cash in to face Cena at Summerslam for a unification match.

well I can honestly say that Cena's character used to be unique and one of a kind..i liked the rapper gimmick...however since the PG era started he was forced to change. I wouldnt have a problem with this if WWE would be creative about it...the never give up never say die i over come impossible odds crap gets old..and it makes for non entertaining pay per views...Cena winning all the time is getting boring. i realize yes he did lose at MITB...but then he wins the damn title back after Mysterio wins it...someone in my opinion who is more deserving of it than Cena. Non the less...whatever happens I hope WWE gets smart and has a unification match...unify the titles and get rid of that dumb bling belt. it looks like a toy and is a slap in the face to what wrestling truely is

Nobody likes little jimmies. Go buy more orange, red, purple shirts.

> : ( <---- displeased face. Nobdy is allowed to enjoy something. If you enjoy something im going to do everything in my power to make your life miserable. Thats the power of the internet.

I go back to thinking about my experience at Capitol Punishment in June. I was a part of the alternating "Lets Go Cena!" "Cena Sucks!" chants, with me chatting the former. I went back and forth with a guy in my section for about 15 seconds, and we just turned to each other and laughed our asses off at the whole thing.

But I will agree with the idea that not just Cena fans, but Cena himself gets probably some of the worst flack of anyone out there in the WWE. Granted he's not the best wrestler in the E, but he should at least be given the respect that he deserves for being absolutely one of, if not the hardest working men in professional wrestling. And honestly, a lot of his character comes from the fact that the WWE had to go to a PG friendly image after Benoit's death. Do I want to see Cena potentially do a heel turn? Yeah I do, I actually think it should have happened last year after Money in the Bank when Nexus cost him the match against Sheamus, that would have been the perfect time to do that. And you even had the chance after he had to join Nexus, but that angle was totally not used to its full potential.

Regardless of that, who else in the WWE constantly has chants during his matches that he sucks? Not the Miz, not Santino, Randy, CM Punk, Kofi, Kane, Christian, ADR, Daniel(son) Bryan, Wade Barrett, Sheamus, hell not even Zack freaking Ryder get 'sucks' chants. Its only Cena. I mean you can probably go back further, but what about "One Night Stand" in 2006? I doubt there was another WWE guy that was involved in any of those matches that got a worse reception. I don't think its fair to a guy that has bled and put everything out there for that company since he smacked Kurt Angle back in 2002, the guy deserves WAY more respect than he gets

Here's my two cents on the issue.

For every WWE superstar that gets shoved down our throats (we like it, but that's what happens), there comes a saturation point, where unless something changes, we begin to tire of what we see week in and week out.

That's where we are with Cena right now. We're tired of his music, we're tired of his look. His moves, his slogans, all of it is old. We pine for something new. Which is why CM Punk (in many ways, the opposite of Cena) is so popular right now. He's new and different, and we like that. (Plus, he's amazing.)

So, right now, if I'm Vince (Triple H isn't in charge, no matter what), I'm planning Cena's heel turn. The WWE is DYING to hate Cena right now. And, truthfully, I bet Cena is DYING to be hated. You see the smile on his face when he gets booed.

He doesn't need to do much. This isn't a Hollywood Hogan situation. But it's time for Cena to be the bad guy.

cena has to be careful with his heel turn. he has to hope it doesnt end up like hogans turn did going late into the 90s.... what i mean is when hogan tried to turn back to the red and yellow no one took to him. they tried to make sting a heel later in the 90s by smashing hogan with a bat.... the fans just cheered when it happened cause we all remember what hollywood did. just cause you change tights doesnt make you loved. Cena had to turn heel at the right time or else he will never be able to go back face just like hogan cant go back face even in tna.

Fans are booing the character, not the person(in regards to its unfair cuz cena is a hard worker)

In the modern era, many grown up fans are against the childish superhero style wrestler. Most of us grew up Hulkamaniacs and im sure our parents(if they were fans of wrestling) may had been annoyed at it. Get beat down for 15 mins, then come back, do 2-3 moves and win the match.

Just like this whole new Angle makes no sense and adds to more Cena Misery. Cena stops Johnny Ace(not gonna try and spell his last name) from ending the match at MitB. Says he is not gonna win that way and touts the honor stuff. Next you had Rey Jr vs Miz and Rey wins the title. That SAME NIGHT Rey is put in a match against Cena. Now some would say Cena shoulda said no cuz Rey already had a match but it was a bullshit move to put the title back on Cena to continue the feud with Punk

I'm not sure but maybe it was in Rey's contract he was guaranteed to win the belt and this was a easy way to fill the obligation. Even if that's the case, it's still cheesy (for Rey anyway).

Well, while I don't harrass John Cena fans, I think I can speak for the hardcore fans when I say we kinda blame them for feeding the mediocrity of the product today. The current John Cena character, who has LONG overstayed his welcome, has indeed been forced down our throats and I for one scratch my head at those who eat it up. This whole PG Area where Cena sells loads and loads of merchandise to the kiddies makes the WWE afraid to turn him heel, in spite of the slowly dying ratings. But the fact is, for the last 15 years all the big heroes have been forced to reinvent themselves as heels. Hogan, Bret, Rock... the latter reminding me the most of the current Cena character. Rock's boy scout "blue chipper" gimmick eventually led the fans to call for his head, much like the majority of today's fans who are anti-Cena, and the WWE did with The Rock what they SHOULD do with Cena.

After the hissyfit he threw at the fans in Australia, because they were quiet during his match, I think they have a great opportunity to now to turn him heel. He can lash out at the fans for liking The Rock better, which is exactly what I think he SHOULD do. 'Cause let's face it; Cena is NOT, under ANY circumstances, going to be the popular choice in the match at WrestleMania 28. The Rock could pull a Snitsky with a basket of puppies and The People (pun intended) will still cheer for him over Cena!! Especially in Miami!

Same as doing a Match with Stone Cold in Texas, you're gonna be the underdog no matter what.

And as I said, I thought after MiTB last year was a great time to turn Cena heel after Nexus cost him 2 chances at the title. But yeah, they NEED to turn him sooner rather than later...part of it has to be that the Rock has to return and has to be on RAW CONSISTANTLY, they NEED to start building this up after SummerSlam.

At the same time, you complain about Cena being forced down peoples throats, and thats a point, but I would counter with the fact that you look at the new crop of talent that has come into the E during this period? Guys like Punk, Morrison, Ziggler, Sheamus, to an extent the Miz, even recently with guys like Danielson, Del Rio, and Barrett have all gotten significant matches, and pretty darn good pushes, in the short time they've been in the organization. We're starting to see things slowly change now, I don't think Cena's gonna be the top dog much longer, especially when you consider how great a reception CM Punk has been getting ever since his epic Promo.

Yet honestly, can you picture any of those named being the ticket seller for Wrestlemania or any of the main ppvs?

Cena needs to turn heel asap, I think more people will like him better as a heel and its long overdue. Randy Orton is a good example, people like him no matter if he is a heel or face. As others have pointed out the WWE needs to be careful with a Cena heel turn otherwise it could backfire on them like it did with Hogan in the 90's.

I like Cena but Randy Orton is the man!

I've never heard of Cena fans being heckled. I suppose the popular thing to do is to 'boo' the guy because everyone else is doing it... and that's stupid. I'd actually like to meet John Cena. He seems like a nice guy.

If anyone should be booed, it should be John Lauranidis (sp). That guy should never be on TV. He brings absolutely nothing to the show.

what I don't get is why the fans turned on Cena in the first place? he hasn't been a heel in years, why start to boo him as a face.

John Cena is this era's Hulk Hogan, and the people you should be pissed at for the state of the industry isn't him or his fan base, it's guys like Triple H who manipulated everything that went on in the WWE once he was involved with Steph McMahon. He ruined people's pushed and buried guys all because was as insecure as his hero Ric Flair. Like Hogan before him, Cena isn't great in the ring, but he does the best with what he has. John is also good on the mic, witch seems to be more important to most people then actual athletic skill or work rate anyway. You, right now, are talking no different then the guys who were fan's of Bruno Samartino or Bob Backlund when Hogan was doing his thing in the 80's. I've said it many times, if you don't feel the organization is giving you the product you like, then don't support it. You wouldn't go to a restaurant that made food you didn't like, or go to a store that didn't sell stuff you wanted, so why is it any different with pro wrestling.

I think the fan's in Australia did the right thing. They were smart enough to know that any reaction is a good reaction, even if they are booing. With out getting anything from the crowd Cena had nothing to work off of and that's why he got pissed off. In all fairness though, Cena does hustle in that ring, and I think to claim to hate him is wrong. The simple fact that fans would cheer the Rock if he "pulled a Snitsky" (as you put it) proves they are pretty dumb. If you really think about, how much difference is there between the Rock and Cena... not a whole hell of allot. Rock is a great talker with a good look, and an extremely limited moves list, Cena is a great talker with good look, and an extremely limited moves list. The only real difference between the Rock and Cena is the fans delusional perception that he is better, when in fact he isn't.

The general thinking is he's become "the establishment." It's the same thing with Hulk Hogan back in the 80's.
