ive thought about this a few different times and wanted to get your guys take on this. It seems that Silva never has a tough fight, outside of Rich Franklin twice he hasnt really been forced to fight anyone. I dont count Forrest because i dont think anyone thought forrest could do it that was a matchup nightmare for him.

I think Silva could/should be fighting people like St Pierre, Shogun, Wanderli Silva, Rashad hell even Rampage. So why does the UFC constantly feed him these guys they know he can beat and then bitch when he treats it like its not a challenge and screws around in the octagon? What reason do they have for not giving us any of the fights above? Id love to see silva shogun or silva st pierre or any of the above but it doesnt seem to happen.

So do you guys think the UFC is purposely giving him fights where he has a clear advantage so he can retire undefeated in the UFC and keep the belt?

Two reasons:

1) Anderson Silva is that good. He's head and shoulders above anyone else at 185. Aside for stylistic matchups with Chael Sonnen and Vitor Belfort, nobody is close to him at Middleweight.

2) The UFC isn't happy with Anderson Silva. After beating Damien Maia, Silva wanted GSP and then to move to heavyweight. Because of his lacklustre performance against Maia, however, Dana White kiboshed that plan. The UFC has gone on to say that if he performs against Chael Sonnen in August like he did against Maia, he will be stripped of the title and cut from the UFC.

On another note, one reason why Silva didn't pursue the 205 belt was because he and then-champion Lyoto Machida are good friends and didn't want to fight. Shogun is the 205 champ now. If Silva performs to his standards against Sonnen in August, you could see Silva fight for the 205 belt as early as next year.

Silva's good...damn good...but if he ever went up against GSP or even Rampage...He'd be done. I used to not like GSP that much, but now I have a greater respect for him.
