Issues with Java, please help

So, my computer went through an auto-update last night while I was sleeping, and installed the new version of Java. I've been avoiding this because I always have issues with Java whenever a new version gets installed, which prevents me from entering the chat room here. Always a different issue each time it updates.

So, now when I go to the chat room window, it says "This plug-in is not supported." Going to the Java website, it tells me to type "about😛lugins" into my search bar, which will bring in a list of the plug-ins I have, and to check to see if Java is enabled. Java doesn't even show up on the list. I tried uninstalling and re-installing Java to see if that would fix the problem. After restarting my browser and my computer, Java still doesn't appear on the "about😛lugins" list.

Anybody have an idea of how I can fix this so I can use the chat room again?

Are you using Chrome?

If so, Java will no longer work in the Chrome browser from version 42.0 onwards:

You'll need to use another browser to access the chat, for now.

You could probably use, god forbid, Internet Explorer in the mean time. Or Firefox.

Update: installed firefox and told it to allow java and now I'm in the room \o/ TY again guys

I did not realize Chrome was no longer supported by Java, so that's probably the issue. Thanks for pointing that out for me. Off to Firefox I go. 😛

I am using a Mac and cannot make chat work even on Firefox. It won’t work on Safari neither. I tried downloading a bunch of random browsers and chat won’t work. I just downloaded the most recent version of Java too before all this, and whenever I go to Java’s website, it says that I have the latest version installed. Anyone else here using a Mac?
