Congratulations to the St.Louis Cardinals and to the Detroit Tigers as they advance to the World Series. Two teams getting there in two different fashions. The Tigers pounding on the Athletics in four straight. The Cardinals beating the New York Mets in seven games and endured 2 rainouts. Tigers have the pitching. If pitching in fact wins then the Tigers are the obvious chose. I am picking right now, the Tigers in 5 games over the Cardinals. What is your prediction???

Good question... Man, the Tigers and the Cardinals together in a World Series... The Tigers haven't been there since 1984, and the Cardinals haven't won it since 1982. My bet is also on the Tigers, but in 6 games.

they say it aint over till its over...
well its over...

Good Luck Tigers!!!

How odd its once again NL central vs AL central and opposite teams this time

Tigers in 6, because St. Louis is too banged up and tired. They don't have another miracle in them. Detroit is rested and ready to go

No, I am not on the bandwagon, I am just calling it like I see it. Just because I am picking a team to win doesn't mean that I am a fan

Funny thing, I thought they were a mirage??? What happened to the mirage??? Are you trying to say you are wrong???

I'm picking the Tigers in 5. They're a great story this year, and should have too much of everything for the Cardinals.

I listened to the end of the game on the radio at work. My heart broke when my mets lost. I don't much care anymore. I'll pick the tigers so they can take revenge for me.

If the cards win game 1, then cardinals in 6

either way i lose, i hate the entire state of michigan(much like i hate the state of ohio) and i dispise fans of st louis(and ive had to deal with them too long)

Well game number one is in the books. The St.louis Cardinals behind Scott Rolen and Albert Pujols and sloppy play by the Tigers defense was more than enough to give the Cardinals a 7-2 win over the Tigers in Comerica Park in Detroit. The Cardinals lead the best of 7 series one game to none. Anthony Reyes a five game winner during the regular season outpitched Rookie of the Year potential Justin Verlander by going eight strong innings in leading the Cardinals to their first World Series game win since game 5 in the 1987 World Series at Busch Stadium against the Minnesota Twins. It was also their first road win in the World Series since game 2 of the 1985 World Series when they beat the Royals 4-2 to go up 2-0 against the Royals in that series.

Excellent information as usual, ticklingfeet4fun. 😎 Although I seem to enjoy your posts more when the Cardinals win. Anthony Reyes showed the baseball world why he has been regarded as the Cardinals #1 prospect.

I have to tell you my friend, after what this team did in the regular season, I am pinching myself after each postseason victory, because it seems like a dream. Hopefully I will pinch myself 3 more times. :wow:

I wish I could share in your joy, but I can't. I hated the Cardinals in the 80's and I have no use for the fact that after they beat the Mets on Thursday, they were chanting like the Mets fans do, " Jose Jose Jose ". Win and win gracefully. I have been fair throughout the entire two years I have been on this forum. What the Cardinals players did was bush. Just like Albert Pujols ripping into Glavine saying that he didn't pitch good in game one. I have issues with the Cardinals. I really do. The fact that Sadira ( my better half ) is a Tigers fan gives me something to root for. No disrespect to you unclebill because you are really a good guy. The way I feel about the Cardinals organization after mocking Jose Reyes on Thursday night, I would have rooted on the Yankees in this series. That is saying something. :xlime:

I wasn`t aware of that nonsense that was going on, and just for the record it is common knowledge in St. Louis that Albert is a great player, but a real prick off the field. As to the 1980`s I hated the Mets as well. It was a heated rivalry back then.

The 1980's were fun. Especially from 1984 thru 1988. That was an incredible rivalry. I really miss that rivalry. That is probably why I REALLY hate interleague play. 😡

The Tigers beat the Cardinals tonight 3-1. The Tigers got another amazing performance from 41 year old Kenny Rogers as he pitched 8 shutout innings allowed just 2 hits. For the postseason so far, has pitched 23 innings. He has allowed no runs and 8 hits and has had 20 strikeouts. He has been brilliant throughout this post-season. The Tigers with the win have tied this series at one game apiece with the series headed to St.Louis on Tuesday. The pitching matchup will be Nate Robertson versus Chris Carpenter. For the Tigers it was their first World Series game win since they beat the San Diego Padres on October 14th,1984 to clinched that series 22 years ago. This is the way the game looks in the boxscore tonight:

Cards win!

The cards have been an underdog in every series this post season, there's no pressure on them at all to win I think thats why there doing so good this post season! Cards have there two aces comin up in game three and four, I think the mets offense will win game 5, kenny rogers will win game 6, and the cardinals will finally pull off there first world series win since '82 in detroit in game 7!
