If, as the Bible claims, we are created in the image of a loving and merciful God, why would this God instill anything in us that he did not like?
He didn't.

I believe the concept of 'sin' is a concept created by the church to guilt people into giving to the church, in exchange for 'forgiveness'.

aww Likeasong..i stated what i myself believe..i in no way push it on others..so go ahead..dissect away..and ditto on the love.
I like this..but then you have to think of serial killers..did God instill that urge into them? of course this is a far cry from tickling, i just thought i'd throw it out there.
I recall what I learned as a teen-ager: There is no sin. There is no good. There is no evil. There is only universal balance. What some may call 'good' others may call 'evil'. I know my opinion is not a popular one, especially amongst the more 'conservative' crowd, but I really believe that what we call 'Good' or 'Evil' are just personal perspectives.
People are, as they are and will act accordingly
After all, when we leave this world, do we not go back to the same pool of essence from which we came?
Not to sound too geeky, but Obi-Wan Kenobi said it best: Truth is a point of view
Nobody ever wants me to dissect what they believe. 😉 It seems as though whatever I say on the subject of religion is purely argumentative, and unconstructive. When other people repeat what I say, they get encouraged. Would anybody care to explain that prejudice?
I think there is truth to what you say, which I mentioned earlier in terms of black widow spiders and diseases. Naturally I don't agree with everything you said though. But I'm not actively out to convert you either, so I won't preach at you, especially because that would probably be pretty ineffective.
It is said, "We are all the worst of sinners and the greatest of saints" So in a Crazy esoteric way "God" sets the wheels in motion.I like this..but then you have to think of serial killers..did God instill that urge into them? of course this is a far cry from tickling, i just thought i'd throw it out there.

I know this is probably an old/forgotten subject in this thread but I will jump to the defence of Hazelf and say that she's trying to state that she is 'Agnostic' (and by that I mean the widely believed but possibly incorrect definition of the term... someone once told me that Agnostic didn't mean 'someone who's not sure whether there is or isn't a God' but I can't quite remember what they said it meant. I just took his word for it because he was a strong Christian believer and well known for doing his research into both sides of the 'Is there a God?' debate).
Anyway, she's both open minded and indecisive about her believes in the sense that she's uncertain/easily influenced with her beliefs but she is also open to new ideas and concepts. 🙂
Anyway, continue. Again. 😛
