Step aside steelers of the 70s. step aside 49ers of the 80s. theres a new greatest football team of all time! the Patriots! we are all priviledged enough to be a part of it! :bowing:

Any team that gets caught cheating will NEVER be listed as the 'greatest of all time'. There will always be doubts.

I'm sure you still have your hats and mugs from those other teams too when they were your favorite team. At least you can celebrate a history that was made without cheating.

If only there were true Patriots fans around to discuss football..

How do you know that??

I'd like to know why ALL their superbowl victories haven't been called into question after they got busted? No one will ever know how long they've been cheating will we???

I'll have the Colts go back for a repeat!

I think they are proving that they can win without cheating. no question in my mind that they still would have won all the other years without cheating. all this hoopla about cheating just boils down to one thing........jealousy. everyone is just upset because no other teams are even worthy of taking the field with them. its getting down right embarrassing to watch the Pats humiliate the rest of the league. i can only hope the colts can at least make it a decent game. they appear to be the only team that poses a minor threat.

The 1972 Miami Dolphins"

I hate it when they do that! Members of the 1972 Dolphins pop the corks on their bottles whenever the last undefeated team loses, keeping their perfect season intact. I hope NE runs the table.

I agree with what the others said. No matter how good the Patriots have been this decade, their place in history has been tarnished by the cheating scandal.:sowrong: Stopping the opposing teams offense is much easier when you know what play they are going to run. But as a life long sports fan, I have to say they are one hell of a football team. I think the NFL commissioner let them off the hook too easy. A draft pick at the end of the 1st round is not much of a punishment. They should have suspended Belachek, and lowered the Patriots salary cap for next year as punishment.

Believe me maniac, I'm FAR from jealous!

It doesn't put another dollar in my pocket or change my quality of life when any sports team wins or loses! I don't waste my life away like that; many of us are too much into the business of living in the world without being stuck to a tv set watching a bunch of people make a helluva lot more money for doing not much of anything.

The Patriots cheated and were busted for it, plain and simple. No one did that to them but them. I think their punishment was no more than a slap on the wrist and shoul've been much more severe as a deterrent to the rest of the league's teams.

We'll never know how long the cheating's been going on and the league should investigate. If they were such a great dynasty, why did they have to cheat in the first place??? They cheated and I feel their superbowl rings and trophies should be given back IMO. Then they'll take what they did much more seriously.

I would ordinarily tell you to blow it out your ass, Maniac...but it looks like you're doing so already 🙄

A sham, anyway. Miami in 1972 had a very easy schedule for a defending conference champion. Only twice that year did they face teams that had a winning record (Giants and Chiefs, both 8-6). The AFC East was a shambles. Colts were in a steep decline, Jets were in and out, and both New England and Buffalo were hapless and hopeless. Now, Miami did a great job in the post, but, given the kind of competition that was around at the time during the regular season, I usually place my own asterisk next to it.

Its funny how the Pats destroy the worst team in football currently and that is somehow supposed to validate them as "best of all time"

Im sure alot of other teams have cheated as well. they just didnt get caught. its a big money business, every advantage you can get helps. its just a shame they did it because they certainly didnt need to. but thats all behind us now. lets get back to the business of the Pats destroying every team in the NFL!!!!! a personal thanks to that stooge Mangini for lighting the fire under the Pats ass. he personally gave them a one way ticket to the superbowl.

I guess the rest of the teams they humiliated were horrible as well? the season is young. many more beatings to be dealt out by the football gods. :bowing:

No. All this hoopla about cheating just boils down to one thing... C-H-E-A-T-I-N-G. Look that word up and understand it's meaning and you might change your team yet again.

A sham, anyway. Miami in 1972 had a very easy schedule for a defending conference champion.

Miami played the schedule determined by the league. They didn't dictate the teams they played. They were defending conference champions for a reason. Most likely because they were the best team.

Only twice that year did they face teams that had a winning record (Giants and Chiefs, both 8-6).

And that's Miami's fault because? Did Miami decide how good the Giants and Chiefs were?

The AFC East was a shambles. Colts were in a steep decline, Jets were in and out, and both New England and Buffalo were hapless and hopeless. Now, Miami did a great job in the post, but, given the kind of competition that was around at the time during the regular season, I usually place my own asterisk next to it.[/COLOR]

There wasn't much competition because Miami in 1972 was simply that much better. Also, wasn't it Miami who was destroyed by Dallas 24-3 in the Super Bowl the year before? Tell me how many fans thought Miami would return in 1972? Yet alone be undefeated? If you had told a 100 fans after the 1971 Super Bowl that Miami would not only win the Super Bowl next year but would go undefeated doing so, my guess is 99 of them would have laughed in your face.

Only one team in the last 6 seasons has even made the playoffs after losing the Super Bowl. I don't see the Bears of 2007 going undefeated after being slammed in the Super Bowl. And you're telling me Green Bay, Minnesota and Detroit are the elite of the league? And don't give me the Grossman excuse. Not only did Miami not lose but they went undefeated nearly the entire season with a back up quarterback. How many teams could even come close to that? Let Brady go down and let's see how many games the Patriots win.

As NFL Films put it "On three consecutive Sundays the Miami Dolphins met the best pro football had to offer. And decisively dominated each one."

Every team in the AFC had the chance to compete against Miami in the playoffs if they were good enough to be there. Every team in the NFC could have competed against Miami had they made the Super Bowl.

Not only did they go 17-0 and win the Super Bowl in 1972, they proved their dominance by returning and winning the Super Bowl again the following season.

And in other news, Manning just passed Unitas in touchdowns

Let's see what happens next Sunday with Pats and Colts. Go Manning!!!:xpulcy:

On another note, I know the Skins got beat down today, but my favorite play was when Brady got fumbled. He still thought the ball was in his hand-imagine the look on his face when he realized the ball was knocked away long before he threw it!!

I despise Tom Brady--as far as the rest of the Pats are concerned, they think they have the Superbowl in the bag. They still have to go through Indiana to get it and I think there's a repeat in the minds of the Colts. Go Colts!!!

Yes, Indy will be the true test for the Pats. the last salvation for jealous fans across the country. Pats are favored by 3 1/2. thgats the smallest spread youll see all year. ill be putting a healthy wager on the Pats. how humiliating for the mighty colts, to be undefeated, at home, and still an underdog.

Colts and pats are superbowl champs, colts being the defending champs

what on earth do colts fans have to be jealous of?

I wouldnt think the colts fans are jealous, but the rest of the country is! i read the redskin players thought they rubbed it in yesterday. hell, are the Pats suppose to stop playing the game? thats a time to try different things and improve. maybe if the rest of the league didnt stink so bad, they might be able to stop the Pats. so my advice to the rest of the NFL is, deal with it! maybe youll have a shot next year, but this year, your just out there playing for fun, because the Pats own the bowl this year.
