It's March 1st, winter is over...

LOL you have 20 days to go til the first official day of spring....anything can happen and most likely will this year..

Yep, sorry to disapoint but technically spring starts at the equinox which is around March 21 . So still time for lots of lovely snow, ice and ball freezing temperatures, enjoy.

I don't care what the calendar says. I remember someone breaking a window with a snowball in April when I was a teenager. February into March is just a great big tease.

Winter is over in the South maybe, but up here in the North we have a good 31 days before we're in the clear.

Don't hold your breath. It has snowed in the midwest in May.

Theyre about 10" of snow outside and it's fucking cold...

So here in Norway...FAAAAAAAR from over.. 🙁

March 1st is only the end of meteorological winter. It doesn't mean that we won't get more "winter" weather. I'm sure there's plenty more to come.

Wishful thinking. I know, I'd like this winter thing to be over soon too. Turn the heat off and sleep with the windows open again. But, we're over the worst of it, right? At least the earth is tilting in the right direction for us.

i live in ohio.
we can have 60 degrees one day and then a blizzard the next.

the weather here definitely does not go by any calendar!

Norwegian summer, mate.
Don't want to jinx it, but Edinburgh as been absolute bliss for the past week or so. 😀

In 1987 the Austin area experienced a hard freeze as late as April 3th, but that was not in the city itself. And it is still a record for the latest freeze of the year for us. I had to scrape my car windows twice this winter, boo-hoo. 😛

I do hope you all thaw out soon. I don't miss Midwest winters one bit. 😀

I wish the OP was correct, but we have had some of our biggest winter storms in the month of March. For those old enough to remember...Blizzard of 1993 anyone?? :shivering:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1993_Storm_of_the_Century

I witnessed the intensity of this storm firsthand as my college friends and I were attempting to drive home from Spring Break in Panama City, Florida back to State College, PA during the storm. There were a few times when I didn't think we were going to ever make it home, but it makes for some great stories now.

When we get to April 1st, then we can relax. Spring has sprung. :bounce:

I dont agree. While the weather does usually get warmer in March, we can have plenty of cold temps, and plenty of snow. Tonight's low is going to be 19 F, and tomorrow's high a balmy 37 F. I would definitely consider those winter temps. That combined with the threat of snow throughout March, makes me think that winter isn't really over until April.

Don't count on it! lol The year my brother was born (65), we had his baptism in mid April. It was in the 70s when we left for church that morning. Everyone in the family was snowed in at our house with over a foot of snow by that night. As a great man once said, "It ain't over til it's over!"
