Seasons Greetings, DoubleT!
Well...I understand grapefruit can do much help lower cholesterol...just....don't eat it within one hour of taking any statin drugs the good doc may have prescribed for you (i.e. Zocor, Lipitor, and the like), because that can be more harmful than helpful.😉
Garlic is said to have blood-pressure lowering abilities too (if you don't fear losing friends to offensive breath 😱 )...but...the BEST blood pressure manager BY FAR (for MOST who are hypertension indicated)...is aerobic (as opposed to anabolic) exercise (whereever and however feasible and/or appropriate). I realize that some folks on this forum are "mobility challenged" so using conventional methods of aerobic exercise may be difficult (if not impossible for some) (i.e. walking, running, step, jumping rope, etc.)Swimming is probably the safest and most sensible aerobic exercise for the population possessing "mobility challenges" with a few hard and fast exceptions, of course. Even if it means kicking (or rowing) oneself around on a floatation device.
Green Tea can often improve metabolic function (HIGHLY recommended for diabetics), which can indirectly help blood pressure by lowering the level of "lipids" left standing in one's circulatory system.
I have heard that, for all of its benefits though, that Ginseng will actually exacerbate a hypertensive condition though.
As always, it is a good idea to check with your doctor, before modify/introducing a diet/exercise program. This becomes DOUBLY important when one is on prescription medications too.
This is, by no means, a complete list, DoubleT...but it is likely a good start.
Hope I have been helpful.
