The mighty Pittsburgh Steelers have apparently traded their #1 WR Santonio Holmes to the Jets for a 5th round pick.

Never mind that Holmes was a 1st round pick, is almost 10 years younger than Hines Ward, won a Super Bowl MVP and has racked up over 3,000 yards over four years, he should be traded to a team that was within two scores of a Super Bowl trip last year.

Good luck with Holmes. Regardless of what he has accomplished, which no doubt is awesome, I have a feeling that he's not going to hurry up and "mature" just because he's wearing another uniform.

With a quarterback and a kicker in legal trouble, maybe this is a message as well as personnel management.

Hopefully, Holmes will have better luck than the last Steeler wide reciever who went to a New York team....

I couldn't agree with you more...but when you take these players who were nothing and thrust them into the spotlight and pay them MILLIONS of dollars...chances are pretty good they will NOT mature ever!

Holmes did win one and was actually our MVP that year. It's really sad. For anyone that plays pro sports and just can't seem to get past the whole "trouble" shit. One would think that living your dream and making millions while doing so would be enough.

Makes me wanna shake some of these guys.

Even though Holmes is only signed through this year, brings baggage and is suspended for four games, I have to think you're ecstatic!

You now have a top-10-15 WR to add to Cotchery, Edwards, Keller, a strong run game and one of the best O-Lines. With that, Sanchize should be able to blossom (similar to Big Ben did in Pittsburgh... only hopefully without rape allegations and motorcycle accidents...).

I don't see any reason(s) why the Jets can't make the playoffs (and make a deep run) this year or the next 3-5 unless Sanchez implodes.

Plus, considering the potential for an uncapped league beyond this year and the NY market and I have to think that maybe the Jets luck is finally turning.
