April 15, 2016, was a wonderful day at Dodger Stadium.
All around MLB, it was Jackie Robinson Day, with all players, managers, coaches, and umpires wearing his uniform number (#42) to honor his memory.
At Dodger Stadium, Rachel Robinson (his widow) and Sharon Robinson (his daughter) were on hand to be part of the celebration of the 69th anniversary of his first game in Major League Baseball, on April 15, 1947, at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn. Frank Robinson (no relation) was there as the first African American manager in MLB history to throw out the symbolic first pitch.
Story in the L.A. Times: http://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgers/la-sp-dodgers-report-20160416-story.html
What made me even happier than watching the pre-game ceremonies on MLB Network, however, was the game itself.
Final score: Dodgers 7, putrid motherfucking hated jints bastards 3.
Winning pitcher: Clayton Kershaw
Losing pitcher: putrid motherfucking hated jint bastard Madison Bumgarner
