I bought the dvd for $1 at Wal-Mart where he played himself.

An excellent quote. Durocher was telling the truth. While not a bigot, he was no crusader for equal rights. As he said, he loved winning pennants to earn extra money and he would do anything necessary to win.

Jackie Robinson's great talent was obvious to anybody who had seen him play ball. 😀

I think Jackie Robinson is debatably the most influential athlete in history. His impact on baseball is beyond description. Not only was he the first black baseball player, but he was also extremely talented and proved that black players could be just as good if not better than their white counterparts. He openned the door for ALL players to get a chance to play baseball and was a class act. He deserves every honor baseball can pay him.
