New York Jets assistant coach Sal Alosi apologized after blatantly tripping Miami's Nolan Carroll on the sideline during Gang Green's 10-6 loss to the Dolphins Sunday.

The strength and conditioning coach was ushered out of New Meadowlands Stadium by a staff member, ignoring interview requests by the New York Post and protected by two security members at an exit.

If gambling has anything to do with it, please look into it NFL.

Anyone that does something so colossally stupid deserves to be fired. Poor sportsmanship doesn't even begin to describe it. :sowrong:

Ive admired the Jets all year. I love the coach, the players, the addittude, the style of what they do and how they do it.

But even the most serious of serious Jets fans cant excuse this, I just want to know what was he thinking.

That guy's a tool. He should be fired immediately. No class.

He's a strength coach lets see how strong he is and kneecap him and see how he likes it then fine him and after that fire his sorry ass.

The New York Jets assistant coach who tripped a Miami Dolphins player during a game has been suspended without pay for the rest of the season, including the playoffs, and fined an additional $25,000.

Sal Alosi, the Jets' strength and conditioning coach, will begin serving his suspension immediately and have no access to the team's practice facility.

General manager Mike Tannenbaum said Monday that Alosi will also not be allowed to interact with any players or coaches "as it pertains to his job function."

Tannenbaum says the team spoke with the NFL about the incident throughout the day, and the league will issue no further discipline. Alosi said earlier in the day that his "actions were inexcusable and irresponsible."

During a 3rd-quarter punt return, Alosi stuck his knee out as Nolan Carroll ran up the sideline, tripping up the Dolphins' rookie cornerback, who went down hard and appeared to hurt his knee on the play.

Not surprisingly, both the NFL and Jets announced Monday morning that they were reviewing the incident, which was caught on tape for all to see.

For his part, Alosi apologized in a statement released hours after the game:

"I made a mistake that showed a total lapse in judgment. My conduct was inexcusable and unsportsmanlike and does not reflect what this organization stands for. I spoke to coach (Tony) Sparano and Nolan Carroll to apologize before they took off."

He also apologized to Jets owner Woody Johnson, GM Mike Tannenbaum and head coach Rex Ryan.

"I accept responsibility for my actions as well as any punishment that follows," he added.

The incident provides Jets-haters, eager to take down a notch a team that's seen by many as more bluster and braggadocio than true championship material, even more ammunition.

The Dolphins' Channing Crowder summed up that feeling of resentment for the Jets after the game.

"They do what they do," he said. "They cheat and they talk junk and do all that stuff, but we beat the hell out of them today, so they can trip all the people they want to. I'll tell 'em to trip me. I would have broken that old man's leg."

To make matters worse the guy he tripped is actually the son of the incoming Lt.Governor of Florida.....

And we also find out that he told those other players to stand there with him so the gunner would have to run around them.

I believe they are allowed to stand there to stop the gunner, as long as they are in a certain box that is a chalked outline. They were lined up in formation, no doubt about it. It was just that the asshole coach stuck out his knee.

We'll they've changed his punishment from being suspended for the rest of this season to an indefinite suspension with the possibility of being terminated upon hearing that additional information.
