......just had a chat with her on the fone and she is as well as can be expected. She is doing voulanteer work at a red cross station in a local church.

Well done to her! lets hope she can keep it together.

Thank you very much for the update, Red Indian. 😀
Good work, JoBelle, and God bless you. :grouphug:

Thank you for the news, red!

If you wouldn't mind, please give her our best the next time you speak to her. :grouphug:

It's an experience like this that can give one a whole new purpose in life...and I got the feeling in recent months that JoBelle's been needing this more than she even knew.
I do wish her the best.

Good lord man...that is like saying that NY "needed" 9/11!.... :wowzer:

I beg your pardon?
:illogical

You get the feeling in recent months that I've been needing something? Do I know you?

You and I have never even held a conversation yet you assume to be privey to such aspects of my personal life?

You're a complete and total stranger.

Could someone please explain to me who this person is and why they have decided to state in a public forum that I "need" to have my home destroyed, my family dead, three of my friend dead, my children's lives in turmoil and my means of support destroyed?

What exactly drives a person to insult a stranger and then revel in the worst natural disaster to hit the country by flat out saying it's a good thing that I "needed?"

I suppose the firemen and policemen and children devastated by 9/11 NEEDED that? The tsunami victims...did they need that to? I offer you condolences where others have offered them to me for you have made an ass of yourself.

The originator of this thread commented to me that you're a real knob, or was it dork? In any case...he did not appreciate your foulness...and I promise you that no one who suffered in this catastophe appreciates your opinion.

....and the Sat Link is getting fuzzy...

I'd like to clarify this statement, if I may...since its meaning has been misconstrued...

Looking at it, it's easy to see why.

What I meant was, that Jobelle's helping others through the relief effort might become a life-affirming experience for her; one that she would need to cope with the horrors that she had already experienced.

Now, I've been here quite a while. Most of you already know me; that I would never, ever say something like that which has been misinterpreted. I'm quite hurt that anyone would think so.

I'm sorry for not having been more clear with the meaning, and that I've caused so much trouble.

I had complete and total faith in you dear. I knew you'd straighten this out. I have made what I thought were compassionate and insightful statements only to be nearly run off the board shortly afterward. Sometimes even our best intentions can get us in a little trouble.

I almost spoke out along those lines myself, but didn't because...

a) I poke my nose into other people's business enough as it is.

2/ My arse has already been burnt enough this year, and

d) I'm developing a distinctly broad yellow streak in my old age. (Broader than a stampede of dysentry-riddled camels.)

How to say thsi in a way that appreciates the goodness that was intended but being very clear about the situation at hand.......?

As far as me personally....I didn't NEED anything life-affirming at this time. I have a good husband, two healthy children, one of whom is recently adopted. I work with disadvantaged youth on a weekly basis, primarily young women. I have a home and a business (well, HAD) and I'm surrounded by folks who love me. Top that with the fact that I'm in the best health I've had in years after cancer.

I thought my life was pretty damn fine. I didn't need this in any way, shape or form. PERIOD!

That being said, I do understand that major events tend to force a reorganization of one's thoughts. It's done that for everyone. But for me....it's caused me more personal grief than I ever imagined. Could have done without it in other words.

Thanks for the good intentions, but given the scope of the horrors involved here, it's best that such comments be saved for post-trauma conversations.

Right now, we're still trying to find the dead bodies and heal the sick ones.

Keep us in your prayers so that we can survive to have those life-affirming conversations.

Jo

Jo, god bless you and everyone around you through this crazy time. I have watched the news pretty much nightly since the storm. I was glad to hear that you were alive. The work that you do in light of your own devestation is uplifting and inspiring.
