My friend and I both went for the same posistion, I was told that I was going to be hired as a cashier, they told my friend that they dont hire people as cashiers, that you have to start somewhere else first and then work your way up to storefront and that they would hire him as either garage help or food service. I cannot figure out why they told us 2 differnet things, unless Im going to be a cashier for a day then get transferred. Anyone have a suggestion as to why there are differnet job descriptions? Other than the "My friend is a guy and they dont want girls in the garage" theory.

😕 A head scratcher. Have you had prior cashier experience and your friend hasn't. What was the time span between when they told you and him? They could have been mistaken when they told you and told him the correct info or vice-versa.

Do you have experience in an industrial/professional garage? 😀

We both have cashier and food industry experience so Im not sure. I had my interview last week and took my drug test on monday. He had his interview on tuesday and his drug test today. They told him that he would be hired when they got his drug test results, I was just told theyd call me when they got my results.

Since your interview was 1st, perhaps the person who told was mistaken or circumstances have changed in the week between both interviews. Maybe they gave the position to you since you were 1st to apply for it and they tactfully redirected him to other positions until another spot opened.

That would be nice. I dont think he uses McDonalds as a reference, maybe Im getting into cashier for food service? Theyre suppsot to call today, so Im hoping they do before 4. Oh, and no garage experience here. Also, on the aplication there was a thing that says 1-4, check what you want to do...I put 1-4 as cashier/storefront....he went 1 cashier, 2 garage, 3 food...so maybe that helps me out a lot too! Thanks

They probably saw that you were mainly interested in 1 position and he was flexible so maybe they tried to meet both your needs. 😀
