John Geils, founder of the J Geils band dies at 71.

Must have seen that the same time you did. Yes, another of the old-timers gone, and an interesting band for the time. RIP Mr. Geils.

Very sad news. I love their music.

May Mr Gelis Rest In Peace

I almost got to meet John and the boys once, in the late 70's. The brother of a friend of mine had a hot air balloon and we drove up to the Twin Cities for the Saint Paul Winter Carnival. Bee and I left KC in the middle of the night towing the balloon and got there around 6 the next morning. Turns out the band was staying in the same hotel and when the desk clerk saw two scruffy looking hippie types walk in he figured we were roadies for the band. Then he made a call and we didn't get to go up to their floor.

We still had a blast though and got to meet two legends of the ballooning world, Maxie Anderson and Steve Fossett.

The 80s were bad years for the J. Geils Band, IMHO. Their seventies material was far superior!

Just the same, RIP J. Geils.

Another death in the world of music. Very sad.
Rest In Peace, Mr. Geils.
