If anything, he was a good singer. Yes he was a jerk to his 1st wife and son (maybe jerk is too light [I mean he just up and left them]) and yes he wasn't the nicest person on the planet but DAMN COULD HE SING OR COULD HE SING! That's coming from a guy whose favorite beetles member is Ringo.
Also, my apologies Izzy if I made ya bring up some bad memories of your past. I'm sure your Mom is resting at peace and waiting to be reunited one day with you.
I just wanted you to know that I'm not sympathetic to those with mental illnesses...
But i still don't consider it an excuse for cold blooded murder...
Sure i wouldn't call him an insect...Elton John did.
I will agree that, even the mentally ill do not always kill in cold blood.
Who knows how many more wonderful songs would have been written if John Lennon would still be around.
Elton John wrote the music and Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics, I should have known but I looked it up anyway. They were probably very angry, bitter, sad and whatever other emotions you have when you lose a dear friend. An insect damaging grain is a metaphor to get the point across. John Lennon may not have been perfect but neither are any of us. I screw up all the time and probably will continue to do so.
