Judge Roy Moore has just been removed from his job for disobeying orders to remove that big ass ten commandments monument.

I agree with this decision - this guy is a fucking nut.

He's now ranting after the trial that the decision was reached in secret - no duh, every judge and jury in the country decides those things in secret! They announced it on national television - it's only secret to those who haven't figured out how to watch television.

I mean, is anyone telling this guy he can't believe or acknowledge God!!!!
Has anyone, at any point, said that!

How many judges around this nation believe in God, most of them? How many Supreme Court justices believe in God, and tell anyone who cares to listen? The President believes in God, and says it often. As does most or all of his team in Washington. Of course, so do most Democrats! No one is telling this guy he can't pray, or talk about God. Loo what happens when the pope, or Mother Theresa, or Billy Graham, or any religious leader visits this or preaches in this country - millions upon millions come out to support them, they basically walk up to the White House, and the president invites them in and meets with them. You don't have this much freedom in Saudi Arabia, or China, or any Islamic nation, or Communist nation.

See my thread for my comments (I didnt see this, honestly) Maybe a mod could merge it?

There are so many counter points I can make, but it would take me and hour to type...so im just gonna stay quiet.

Now, repeat after me...

GOVERNOR MOORE

It's coming. Real soon, to a voting booth near you, if you're in Alabama. In fact, he's the next George Wallace. He's gonna make his stand in the doors of the State House in Montgomery, in order to keep Secularism out.

It seems to me if there was a monument for anything else, we wouldn't be hearing outrage. But when it comes to God and religion, we now all of a sudden have this outrage. It just seems that more and more people are not believing in Him? I applaud this man for bravely stepping forward with his beliefs. What ever happened to separation of church and state?? First, they ban prayer from school, now they won't let a monument with commandments that should be followed daily. Well, when judgement day comes I love for you all to explain to God the reason for His commandments to not be visibly seen. I'd love to hear what reason you can possibly give Him. I sincerely doubt you can. This is just a way of saying God isn't important at all, and that you think its you that has made this progress up to date. Wrong. dead wrong. Its not you at all, and a lot of you better wake up b4 its too late. Maybe for some of you it already is

Does Alabama still recognize the US Constitution?

Natural tickler, it's not a matter of believing in God or not, it's a matter of whether the government should recognize or base it's authority on the teachings of any particular religion. Lots of people believe in God, but realize that it's not the place of the government to dictate such beliefs. How would you like it if you went before a Buddhist judge and he/she had a copy of the Eightfold Path placed prominently in the courtroom, or if a Catholic judge had a crucifix, 6 Virgin Mary's, and the Apostles surrounding the courtroom. It's simply better to keep this stuff out of a public forum that receives public support. The founders of this nation looked at history and noticed that established state religions usually resulted in war and death, and wisely decided to let people do their own thing. The Ten Commandments may contain some common sense rules to live by, but the First Amendment states that "Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion, or preventing the free exercise thereof," while the First Commandment states that "I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt. You shall have no gods before me." Seems kinda contradictory to me.

I think theres a point that's not being made. I have met many, many fundamentalists in my day. You literally cannot debate or sometimes even hold a conversation with these people. They are right, every one else is wrong, and is going to hell, and that's that. Jesus Christ Himself can come down and talk with them, and I guarantee they would diasgree with Him! The monument itself wasn't the problem, it was the judge who put it there. He sounds like one of the crazy ones. Most christians are wonderful people, who will give you the shirt off their back. Many others, however, too many others, use their religion to bully and control others. But they feel perfectly fine because they believe they are so right, and no one can even dare disagree with them. If two people are standing in front of Roy Moore, having both committed the exact same crime, but one is gay and the other is straight, I guarantee the gay man or woman will get a much harsher sentence than the one who is straight. Or if one guy's a member of Roy Moore's religious denomination, and the other guy isn't, the member of Moore's denomination will get a lighter sentence. That's not justice, and that's not right.

I count myself as being pretty eloquent when the mood strikes me. After reading NT's post I was about to come out with about three pages of why I disagreed with him. Then I saw sushi854 had done it more reasonably and eloquently than I ever could. On top of that he got NT to see his/her point of view without beating it into him.

This judge is a fool. A dangerous fool. He is also a fascist who thinks we should apply the death penalty to those people who are homosexual or of similar anti-Christian disposition. Quite frankly when he is at his "desk" he should be impartial and neutral. He should judge everything on it's merits. He doesn't because he's a fanatical fundementalist, who believes that everyone within his grasp should be forcibly converted to think and act the way he thinks they should.

It's good he's gone from his job. It's just a shame, as Knox has said, that he's probably going to walk into public office on the backs of voters who are as similarly deranged as him. (And sadly, there's an awful lot of them.)

There's nothing wrong with being Christian, or any other type or religious persuasion. But it's deeply immoral to behave the way this man has: to use your position to impose against independant will and to spread hate filth that sounds like the sort of garbage a first grader would use in a school-yard tantrum.

Jim, thanx for the luv, buddy, no beating necessary. Besides, I have a migrane, so beating might have compounded the trouble😀

thanks jim...now i'm either going to develop a superiority complex or i'm going to puke...😀

Judge Moore is a fundamentalist in USA. The Taliban in Afghanistan are fundamentalists. The mollahs in Iran are fundamentalists. Judge for yourself.

BTW, I'd rather be convicted in a trial with a Buddhist judge than with somebody like Moore... 🙄

Quoting Knox:

I don't often agree with Knox, but he mostly got it right this time. The part Knox missed is that the Big Rock is Judge Roy's "stand in the school house door".

I agree generally with Moore on much of what he has said. The Ten Commandments, and Christianity generally, are in fact the moral basis of our laws in this country. The First Amendment protects freedom of religion, it does not mandate freedom from religion. The Federal Courts have usurped powers that were never granted to them in the Constitution, and need to be brought back under control by the elected branches of government. There are other things too.

But - I've already voted against him once, when he was elected to the State Supreme Court - twice, if you count the primary. I plan to do so again if (when) he runs for governor. Moore is a hustler like George Wallace (or, for that matter, Al Sharpton) who is beating this issue like a drum to further his political ambitions. This state has had too many of those.

Enough.
