My husband has been called once again for jury duty...the second time since we moved here..he is boiling mad..even said he would unregister to vote so they wouldn't keep bugging him..but he didn't do that, instead he filled out the report..but he did however say that he has to check his sugar on a regular basis. In all my years as a registered voter, i have yet to be called, and unlike David, i want to serve..i was an avid watcher of courttv at one time..this is soo unfair. So for those who have been on jury duty, i ask..love it? or hate it?

In my 39 years, I have never once been called for jury duty. I don't know whether I should feel neglected or lucky :blaugh:

I'm not a big fan of it! I have been called for Jury Duty starting Feb. 5th

I hate it Dec.05 I had to serve for 3 days of that crap Never once did I sit on any kind of jury Got paid $27 from Lancaster county,Pa In those 3 days I did not drive big rig,I estimate I lost $450 :ranty: :ranty:

But you may say "Zod,it's your civic duty" I served 10 years active duty USAF My civic duty is done as far as I am concerned I have no problem for those who wish to be selected for jury duty Please don't expect me to wish to do it again I feel sorry for those selected for grand jury duty

You may be away from your family for 30 days or more on federal grand jury May not even allowed to have contact with them Not too mention loss in pay You think the bill collectors care that you were on jury duty? Hell no

Rant over

hmmm but there is always the night time..😉 and it wasn't his idea you goof..

In some states, being a registered voter does not matter for selection.
I don't know for sure...

I would rather not do it. I imagine Jury duty is not as exciting as what one sees on TV. I got called once but wormed my way out of it. It was some stupid DUI charge.
I doubt there is amazing evidence, screaming attorneys, all this emotion, or any of that fun stuff.

I could care less if I never get picked.

true in some states you don't have to be a registered voter, like New York i think..or at least NYC...here you need both that plus a driver's license..

OMG, me too for the 5th! Jury duty sucks gigantic monkey ASS. Civic duty? For $15 a DAY? Screw that, I have BILLS to pay. I'm going to show up and behave like a mental patient if they call me so I can get out of it. :idontwann

lololol tsk tsk..why is it the ones who want to serve never get called???????? i would love to..

No it's a bitch and a half. REALLY boring stuff. It's not like LA Law, when stuff's all wrapped inside of an hour, it literally takes forever Iz. And it's annoying as F---. They basically ask the same questions over and over in different ways. :ranty:
XOXO

I just served on jury duty (not on a jury, only one vore dire in three days) earlier this month. It's a PITA, but a necessary one. I'm always willing to serve.

I have been called several times, but never selected. And Mil's is right. The jury system is one of the bedrocks of our legal system.Yes its often boring, and can be an economic strain. But when you think about it,this country really asks very little of us overall. We all need to serve when called upon.

hmm so why are some called many times over and others not called at all? my mom's friend could have been a professional jurist, as many times as she had been called..there is a two year time in between when you can serve again, but i have never ever been called..if it's random, why did my husband's name come up again so soon? i think his last service was hmm four years ago..

It's random, and done by computer.I was served with notice twice within a six month period when i lived in Texas.I did think that was a bit much, when so many people never are called for duty.

I was asked to report for jury duty on the 25th of this month, but I postponed it. While it's not a financial hardship (my company pays me while I serve), I find it a drag... much of the time just waiting around. Most of the cases are boring too, like medical malpractice suits. Nothing like Perry Mason!

A friend of mine was once on a fun case. It involved a fellow who was caught stealing hundreds of dollars worth of women's lingerie from a boutique. He obviously had a fetish, as he didn't appear to have a significant other. All of the items he stole where held up in court as "exhibits", and the jury pool had all they could do to suppress their nervous, embarrassed laughter. Now that would be entertaining!

I despise it. Generally, I just throw the things out when I get them.

I loved it. 15 a day..work payed for the rest of my day OFF. 25 when i went to trial..work payed for rest of day. Either way I got paid to be there, even if Jury wasnt needed and i was home by 9 am. I did make it on a jury, was juror no.1 and the group named me jury forman. So..at 22..I had to stop a room full of people from fighting every 10 mins, plus read a guilty verdict out loud to a court room full of the defendants..how should we put this...Thugs. lol Good thing I was a pretty big guy, tho..i think 20 of them coulda took me. haha I miss those days!

hmmmm......You had better hope the judge doesn`t have a foot fetish, my pretty. With your sexy feet, you could be in the courthouse for months.

Get this. Last year they called me four times in a three month period. I can't tell you how foolish it seemed that I would tell my bosses that I was called for jury duty (four times no less). I finally called the court clerk, and told her to tell the judge to stop sending me the summons

It actually wasn't too bad when I was there. I got away from the stress of the job. I just bought a book and read away. If you ask me if I like it, I'd have to say "NOOOOOOOOO!!!".

I got one the week immediately following my 18th B-Day and each time after that when it came in the mail i'll go and I never end up getting picked...So Thanks to our percious judicial court system there's a day without pay from work :Grrr:

My only time on the jury was the imfamous and earth shattering " Mary Snowy VS The Rainbow Pillow Company". Three days of carnage and bloodletting in this life altering case. They settled before the defense presented their case. So we of the jury mostly played euchre, made fun of the complaintant, and admired the defending lawyer's legs all for eight dollars a day and ten cents a mile. The best part of the whole thing was the presiding judge was disbarred for theft a few years later.
