So I'm on jury call which basically means that after five p.m. Monday thru Friday I must call and receive a recorded message about the following day.

So far all I've heard is "All jurors are excused tomorrow blah blah blah"

I'm on call til July 22nd...

Apparently when filling out the questionnaire in the section about being excused the "fry the fucker" is not an valid reason for being dismissed lol.

Has anyone else served on a jury? If I do have to serve I hope it's a criminal case.

I've been called for jury duty twice, on call once, never been on an actual jury though.

Recently got a notice though and hoping i can get out of it. Lol

Out here, it's only hanging around the court house waiting room for a week. If you get selected for a trial, you get to stay for another two weeks for the trial.
I got called again, and will be waiting after the forth of July.
Never thought of being a smart ass and saying 'Fry the fucker', but then I don't like to bring attention to myself like that. Keeps them from wanting to swing back at me.

I've been on jury duty once. Didn't get selected, so apart from the stupidly early, 2 hour bus ride to get to the court house, only to get lost because they had the wrong address by about 6 streets (3rd Ave instead of 3rd St.) I don't have much experience.

Uh I didn't really fill in the questionnaire with fry the fucker lol..that was a bit of a joke on my part.

We had to attend a jury orientation program two weeks ago Monday..we were informed that we get paid forty dollars a day plus fifty cents per round trip traveling.

So I earned forty dollars and fifty cents lol since I'm less than a mile from the court house.

My husband has been summoned two different times..and is on call still for a federal trial...

He did serve on a jury the first time around and found the defendant not guilty..

I have never been called but i would always worry about wither i made the right decision or not. While not being madly religious i would have a concern about the death penalty and how this would be looked at by god.

From the mechanics of it, being retired now it would be possibly of interest, but previuosly when working and paying the morgage, the reduced income for what could turn out to be several weeks would have been a concern.

Looking at a different angle have you read a book by John Grisham "the innocent man" based on Ron Williamson from Ada Oaklahoma a college baseball star and his wrongful arrest and battle to get justice,a true and tragic story, it was a compelling read for me here in the uk, knowing little about the American justice system.I think John Grisham writes a lot about the American legal system, i have never read anything else of his.

Just a note about your signature, 60 is now deemed to be the new 40 so don't be shocked by reaching it.
I know i can't perform like a youngster anymore but in my mind i'am still about 20.
As long as you have no health problems enjoy your life and savour each day and explore new things "do things while you can" before its too late every era has something to offer, and may you have many many more years to look forward to.
Having a wicked sense of fun helps 🙂🙂

My roll with jury duty was short lived this time around, coming in right after the forth of July when our jury system already takes Mondays off to begin with. Now they had to take Tuesday off to compensate for that, so we didn't get there until Wednesday. After two hours, it was discovered they were going to hold off any trials until the following week, so we all got released. Hot Damn. I was still able to use the bus transfer to get back home before it was expired, and sometime next month I'll get a check for a whopping $10.

Both of my jury duty stints ended with the defense's client taking a plea bargain before it ever went to trial. Considering both defendants were forced to use public defenders and the charges amounted to life without parole, I think it was pretty much their best bet.

Back in 2005 in early December,I had three days of that shit. Then back this past October,I was summoned for it again. This was in the county courthouse for both times. The one in October,I called the number the night before, entered my jurist number, and I did not have to go back in.

Those idiots make it sound so patriotic to do your civic duty. They can shove it it up their ass. I really hated the arrogance of the workers in there.

Well jury duty is over and not once was I called to serve...all jurors continued to be excused...I did make forty dollars and fifty five cents however lol.

Ya I know that 60 is the new forty...it's just that age 60 when I say it it's mind boggling to think I have actually reached 60 years of age.

I just had a birthday myself this week.
I'm 56 now... Yeah, I think I can relate.
