I am actually interested in learning more about tickling as torture throughout history but I am having trouble finding material. If anyone knows of a good book or websites, please let me know.Thanks!!!

it didn't happen as often as "everyone" would lead you to believe. at this point, I'm kinda inclined to believe it's reached urban legend status. IE, "everybody knows" Chinese emperors tickle-tortured with wild abandon despite no actual documentation to that fact.

regardless, you won't find any textbooks on it, and only passing mention of it in most works except maybe for a place like Amnesty International where atrocities are often listed for documentation purposes. even there, it's pretty scarce.

do some digging back through the forum archives. threads like this come up every now and then, and I'll bet the people who've posted volumes of historical findings are probably going to find their fingers too tired to keep doing it over and over again.😀

What you may be thinking of is the torture where the victim's feet were soaked in brine, then licked by goats. While this may have tickled a bit initialy, after a while, the skin would become raw, after which more soking in brine, and continued licking would become quite painful.
