Hello again, been a while since I've posted about these sort of happenings in my life, but I think some of these are interesting enough. The most recent first:
On the weekend I went to a friends 21st and had a ball. Talking to heaps of people, having fun with my friends... and for the first time in a while having a little to drink (I was staying the night so I didn't have to worry about driving or anything). Anyway, towards the end of the night it began to filter out to just a few people that were staying the night and the others that were just going to go on for ages anyway. I found myself on the couch with a couple of girls who I've never really met before (I know one by face from uni) and also a mate of mine in a chair watching us losing the Cricket.
Anyway, the girl I did know by face (Stacey) was staying the night and the other (Tasha) was from who knows where, but spent most of her time chatting with me and saying she should really go home (took her about 3 hours before she finally got around to it). At some point we got out my digital camera and Stacey and I went through a series of self portraits in different poses... you know, looking over there... looking angry... looking happy/sad etc and then had a look through them, had a laugh and the like. We then tried this with Tasha,
Apon looking at the photos with Tasha, both me and Stacey agreed that she didn't look at all natural... so we tried another photo... and still it look pretty un-convincing. So I decided to give her one last chance to look natural... so I said something along the lines.
"Ok, you obviously can't do this by yourself, so this time I'm gonna take the photo while I'm tickling you..."
During this time I made sure to tell her that this way she had no choice but to be completely natural... there was no possibility of her looking posed in this shot whatsoever (I had 'accidently' though, turned the camera onto the movie setting... 😉 ) she of course was just in hysterics and didn't really try to argue. Anyway, that went for a good 10 seconds or so and certainly didn't stop her hanging around me for the next hour or so.
What I find most interesting about that story is that this wouldn't have happened a year ago. A year ago, I wouldn't have been talking to a girl I didn't know like that, let alone tickling her. Whats more, I don't think she would've been acting so positively towards me. Over the last year I've just grown so much in my confidence, body language and even understanding how alot of these sorta things work.... so good for me.
The other interesting experience is totally out of my control. At university I am in a contemporary music group which is always interesting and a lot of fun... even though many people struggle to call some of the things we do 'music' at all (though we regulary surprise people). Anywho... the major concert for the music department at uni is comming up this weekend and one of the pieces we are doing includes writing on a chalk board where the sound made by the chalk on the board triggers another sound...
(this can look quite bizzar. for example you can see the performer writing or drawing on the chalk board... but instead of hearing the scratching of the chalk itself, you can an Armoured Tank instead or maybe a sine wave following the pattern and direction of the drawing itself)
For one of these pieces the performer is writing a phrase in Chinese script and the sounds being triggered are various non-sensical phrases in different languages - German, Spanish, Chinese and English. In fact, I was the one that they recorded the English phrases from.
The phrases are something like:
"As I walked into the prematurely air-conditioned supermarket, I was struck by rose of pink and green is my favourite colour so you should never tickle a sleeping dragon"
Whats more, when we recording the phrases, I actually did emphisise tickle quite a lot... I said it a little deeper, paused a little, generally said it more sensually.... and not knowing what this was going to be used for... was just having fun and didn't really think about it.
Now because the chalk needs to be making sound before you can hear me, that last phrase often sounds like "tickle.." or "tickle... sleeping dragons" and unfortunately "never tickle" (remember it wasn't my choice).
But since numerous permutations of the subject of actually saying 'the word' seem to pop up here often enough (the sometimes the fear of saying it), I'm wondering what other people think of the sound of:
My voice,
Deeply and sensually saying the word tickle (several times too),
Being amplified many times
And then being played in a large auditorium in the center of my city to hundreds of people.
Anyone that gets chills and thrills out of saying 'tickle' around the water cooler think that they can beat me in this one? 😀
(note: if anyone wants... I might be able to post the recording of this phrase just for fun)
