Kelyn: Thought I'd Take a Crack at Her

Hey everyone,
Since Khali has been so kind with all the poser pics she's done with Stipp, I thought I'd try my hand at drawing her creation "Kelyn." Hope I do her justice.😀

Poser work is Poser work and lineart is lineart, so its near impossible for her to look anything like the Poser Kelyn. HOWEVER, the likeness IS there, and you really did a good job I think of making the transfer of characteristics. Good work. 🙂

First off, I said it before and I'll say it again...I absolutely adore TD's renditon of Kelyn...unbelievably good. 😀

It's so damn...cute and evil! 😉

Secondly, to CE and others comparing TD's drawing here to the Poser version of Kelyn...

...Kelyn was DRAWN first, and the Poser model that you've seen over and over again is the one that's the 'copy' really, not the other way around. The Poser Kelyn is as close (right now) as I can get to the 'REAL' Kelyn, but definitely not the same.

How does the real Kelyn look? The design that the Poser model was based on? Well, I'll be posting this (kinda old) drawing (which is also on my DA page) again very soon today, but take a look: ^^

Now perhaps people will know what the ugly 'marks' on her right leg are supposed to be (a swirling ribbon). And 'wings'? Yes. ^^

So, TD is actually VERY accurate in his drawing above. 🙂 I hope that clears things up for everyone, as I want them to enjoy TD's pic w/out having the wrong idea. ^^

Ha, a dead cool version of our favourite goth-elf... and she looks like she's up to no good! I think Kelyn has become considerably popular, because Scamwich did a fan piece too.

Oh, I knew about the picture. Though its worth mentioning that his version and yours give me two different impressions because of the style in which they were drawn. With your version I get more of a scavenger/hunter feel out of her, something akin to an amazon (which coincidentally seems to be a reoccuring theme for me with some of your characters). With TD's I see a refined beauty whose nevertheless mischievious.

Its nice to see the character in two different ways, whether it was intended or not. Which of course it probably was not.

Khali: Well, I'm glad you like it. Drawing someone elses work is always nervewracking cause you never know how it's going to be welcomed. I see what you're saying about Poser work and drawn work. I went by your drawing of her for the details and clothing. Thanks for the pic. Loved drawing her and thanks for creating her. You gotta great character there.

Plus it is not uncommon, especially in this community for the artist to exaggerate or enhance favorite features, often without even realizing it...

Excellent work! I love it when artists cross over and do an homage to another's work. Poser art and lineart may be two different things, but it's all in the expression. I remember doing a Poser version of Chimp once...I'll see if I can find it and repost.
