Kevin's Week 3 Picks
I would like to do this on a weekly basis & pick the teams I think are going to win. When I return home for good next week, I'd like to do a separate listing based on the over/under lines. But I'll stick to teams only since I'm on the road. Feel free to comment. I'll try to do the same with each pick.
Take the Ravens hosting the Cardinals
Matt Leinart needs to prove himself vs. a fierce pass rush. Ravens take it away an average of 2+ times over their last 6 games.
Take the Packers hosting the Chargers (Upset!)
I'm beginning to think GM A.J. Smith should be fired. He let go of Marty Schottenheimer, which was the worst thing he can do. Have fun, Norv Turner. That Packers Defense will prove their legitimacy.
Take the Buccaneers hosting the Rams
I see Marc Bulger taking more naps in this game with those offensive line problems.
Take the Steelers hosting the 49ers
I've got no reason to believe that Gore will crack this defense. Therefore, Alex Smith must get used to the steel curtain in his face all day.
Take the Lions at the Eagles (Upset!)
Everyone thinks the Eagles will find themselves in this game. I believe Detroit's offense will keep it close until the 4th quarter, & then take the lead for good off a Philly mistake.
Take the J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets hosting the Dolphins
No matter how bad the Jets looked the first two weeks, the Dolphins looked worse. The only way the Dolphins can win is if they score 3 defensive/special teams TDs, as their offense is hanging them out to dry.
Take the Patriots hosting the Bills
Can Laurence Maroney finally have a good game? That Buffalo Defense seems ripe...
Take the Vikings at the Chiefs
I can't pick the Chiefs unless they show improvement (or play the Falcons, which is another story in & of itself).
Take the Texans hosting the Colts (Upset!)
That's right, I'm predicting the upset. I believe in the Texans' defense. You must remember that Houston is playing at home & will be amped up for a division rival. I picked the Redskins over the Eagles on another forum (beast toast) if you need some credibility to the wackiness.
Take the Seahawks hosting the Bengals
How do you give up 51 pts. to the Cleveland Browns?? I smell Shaun Alexander on the football field highways. Hasselbeck will not throw as many interceptions as Mr. Steve McNair.
Take the Raiders hosting the Browns
I think the Raiders defense is better than Cincinnati's defense. I don't believe Cleveland's defense improved over last week. All I ask you to do is to not expect 96 points & over 1000 yards from the two teams combined...
Take the Jaguars at the Broncos
Had the Broncos lost last week (which they should have - that was a cheap way to call timeout.), I would have gotten another upset pick right. But they're living on borrowed time; they will lose this week.
Take the Giants at the Redskins
You may wonder why I'm picking the Giants over the Redskins. I wonder that too, except New York swept Washington last year & I don't see much signs of that changing yet. This is the game you need to expect an offensive shootout, as New York's offense will break out & New York's defense still gives out.
Take the Panthers at the Falcons
At least Larry Johnson isn't going to find himself in jail, unlike a certain famous Falcon player you might have heard of. I see no reason for the Falcons to beat the Panthers.
Take 'da Bears hosting 'dem Cowboys
Key: Rex Grossman. Good Rex will show up.
Remember the Titans at New Orleans blasting the Saints
This game will be close only because Vince doesn't have enough playmakers to blow out New Orleans. However, Vince Young does find ways to win, & I believe he does so here.
