I just got out of this film and out of 4 stars, I'd give it a 2, max.......
The editing in the film was odd and I am guessing large sections of the film were removed. The beginning of the film is quite good but once Liam Nieson's character is gone, the film goes downhill (which is fairly early in the movie). Orlando Bloom does a relatively solid job but his character is not well developed. He goes from a blacksmith to a badass knight who is the sole defender of Jeruseleum. Eva Green plays the love interest in the film and I did not like her character at all and the romance between the two of them didn't even make sense. Anyone that saw the Dreamers knows how hot Eva Green can be. In this movie, maybe sans makeup with clothing (unlike Dreamers), she was not that attractive. The battlescenes were a big letdown for a Ridley Scott film. Real jumpy camerawork and one of the major battles of the film shows absolutely nothing of the fight. I like David Thewlis as an actor and he is great in this movie, but his character basically disappears without any buildup. Ed Norton is finally back in a film again but you never see his face. he plays the King, stricken by leprocy, and hidden behind a silver mask. After writing this, maybe two stars is too generous.
So in one week I have seen Hitchiker's Guide and Kingdom of Heaven and I can't recommend either film.
