It gives me great pleasure to write this post. Why? Because even the most intense Kobe haters HAVE to give Kobe Bryant a lot of props for an outstanding season. Kobe Bryant without a doubt SHOULD BE MVP. His Laker team finished first in a conference where to just QUALIFY for playoffs, your team HAD to win 50 games. That's crazy. 50 games? Yet, the Lakers are first.

The thing with Kobe this season was the simple fact that he didn't have to score 40-50 points for the Lakers to win. There were times where he "only" scored 20 points, wasn't the leading scorer and the Lakers STILL won by double digit points. He made his teammates better. Think about it. Laker fans aren't worried when guys like Vladimir Radmonivic, Sasha Vujacic and Jordan Farmar enter the game in crunch time. Kobe Bryant got guys open, PASSED the ball and they hit their shots. Kobe has his team believing, which was crazy considering he blasted them in the offseason. These guys stepped up to the plate and Kobe realized that he was on a solid team. He trusts his teammates now. His play has shown that this year and despite the rash of injuries, the Lakers still came in 1st in the West.

Guys like Lebron James, Kevin Garnett and Chris Paul also deserve accolades, but none of them had the year Kobe had. If Kobe doesn't win this year, then there truly is a anti-Kobe bias. Give the man his props because THIS season, Kobe was truly MVP.

im english, only been into basketball for about 5 years, and lebron is my favourite player so i always want the cavs to do well. But this season i agree kobe definitely deserves MVP, with chris paul in second. Can't wait for the playoffs, especially in the west, its so hard to call

I disagree. Stephon Marbury for MVP and Coach Isiah Thomas for Coach of the Year. They are so deserving. It is not easy to win 23 games in this league and somehow the Knicks did it!!! So give the hardware to Marbury and Thomas truly the best that New York has to offer.:cry1:😱

Kobe had a great year no doubt, but my vote would go to Chris Paul. No Kobe hating here I just think Chris Paul is more deserving. Without Paul, the Hornets would be in horrific shape. A Kobe-less Laker team would still be decent especially with the addition of Gasol.

Whoever it goes to will deserve it. If Kobe gets it you can't complain. If he doesn't get it you can't complain.

My vote is for Chris Paul because he didn't cry to the media and his team management to trade him at the beginning of the season just because he played on a team that sucked.

That's not anti-Kobe, that's fact.

But Heeko, what Kobe has done in last year's offseason has no effect on his performance this year. Sure, he whined and complained, but so was every true Laker fan. You think Kobe was the only person in LA who thought Kwame Brown and Smush Parker sucked? Kobe Bryant wants to win. This is the LA Lakers, a franchise that is used to winning. Why should Kobe sucked up and lose? That makes no sense.

But during the season, Kobe Bryant has showed why he is the best basketball player on the planet AND he can be a great teammate. This year, the Lakers did not need Kobe to score 40-50 points to win a game. He could have a 15 point game and the Lakers could still win. This year, Kobe trusted his teammates and they have delivered. That was the main source of his gripe. His teammates were a bunch of pussies, but this year, they grew a sack and now it is paying dividends.

Chris Paul is very deserving of the award just like Kevin Garnett is. But Kobe Bryant has elevated his game to something a LOT of people didn't think was possible. The fact that he can LEAD a team and become a championship contender. For years, people on this forum have decried that the Lakers will never be relevant again. Now, the Lakers have a great opportunity to win it all. Life is sweet and Kobe should be MVP.

I agree, Kobe bryant is BY FAR the best player since Jordan, and he SHOULD WIN the MVP!! I am a Laker fan, and I can't wait to see them in the finals...

Boston/LA!!

MVP!! MVP!!! MVP!!! MVP!!! MVP!! MVP!!! MVP!!! MVP!!!! MVP!!!

I am sure a lot of you have been hearing that during Laker games, whether it was in Los Angeles or away, Kobe Bryant received that chant. Now it is official. Kobe Bryant was named NBA MVP. To all the detractors and Kobe-haters, how do you like him now? Kobe haters said he would NEVER win this award. How do you like him now?

Just think Kobe haters, you all said he would never be a team player, he would never get his teammates to play better and how wrong you are. I told ALL of you he would one day. How do you like him now?

One more thing. Kobe/Laker haters have also claimed that Kobe will never win a title without Shaq. Time will only tell. IF the Lakers win this year, you damn well know you will have to eat each and every single word. I would start praying haters.....

As deserving as he may be this year, I think he deserved it just as much if not more last year. Possibly the year before too, but unless your team finishes in the top couple positions, and a favorite to win the championship, you're just not going to get that award. That said, I hadn't seen New Orleans all year... but if CP3 was playing the whole year like he's been playing in the playoffs, they should be co-mvp's.

I think Kobe deserved it this year and other years as well. He didn't win it after Shaq left cus his team sucked until this year. I'm a Kobe/Lakers fan by the way.

I think Chris Paul is good, but I think Kobe is a lot better. I think Kobe is the best player in the NBA this year and just about every year between now and when Shaq left. Also, Kobe's Lakers won the west. CP3's Hornets didn't.
