Kunzite's "A New Project" Tickling Interactive Fiction Game!

Darn, I was hoping this meant there was another game coming out.

Consider that a ringing endorsement I guess. It was a blast. Something for everybody I think.

Aye I thought the same tarr2k. I very much enjoyed the detail put into "A New Project". However I wonder if it is possible to put in some still pictures in the game, like for instance for the view of the room. I remember an old NES game, I can't remember the name, that was texted based like "A New Project" however you could see the room that you were in and it would interact with what you type. Like, (still picture of a wall with a closed door) type: use gold key in door (still picture of same wall but now with the door opened). I realize that this would take a lot more time and money to produce but I think it would appeal to a larger audience of people. Either way I would still buy another one 🙂 . Just a thought and my small perspective.

Hello,

It's great to have your feedback. I wanted to give Kunzite's "A New Project" another shot at some exposure. It has done well but not as good as it deserves. It was a mammoth undertaking and took Kunzite over a year to produce. While the technology employed is a bit dated it is still a highly immersive and entertaining romp through a world of fiendish tickle torture mayhem. Best of all it’s easy to use and I have yet to have a customer have any problem using the program.

Kunzite had mentioned that it was possible to integrate pictures into an interactive fiction game. However there are many expense related issues that make this option prohibitive and this time.

Feel free to chat about the things you most liked about the game and what you would like to see in a sequel. Kunzite and I have not talked about doing a sequel and sales have not been strong enough to point us in that direction. However these projects sometimes take on a life of their own.

I'm delighted to hear that people are enjoying the game. I began gaming with Infocom's "Enchanter" along with other games of that period, and I've always loved the medium. Since the help file is fairy self-contained, I haven't heard from many people, so I'm always glad to hear opinions.

As Morandilas mentioned, it's possible to integrate graphics and sound into such games, but it's just not financially feasible yet. However, I only expect MTJ Publishing's customer base to grow over time, so it's only a matter of time before we can get started on bigger projects like a new game. I personally can't wait until we can.

And by the way, Jamandi, I believe the game you're thinking of is Lucasarts' "Maniac Mansion". That was really a classic; anyone who's never played it really has to give it a try.

nah, Maniac Mansion didn't use stills. There were tons of IF games that did, though; The Pawn immediately comes to mind, as did the IF games based on Children's fiction (The Wizard of Oz, and others).

besides, the SCUMM interface used in Maniac Mansion and others of its ilk is copyrighted by LucasArts. Not that something like it would be hard to duplicate, though.
