Dont mention the cricket Flocky, we just got knocked out of the "Twenty 20 World Cup"

Just to explain what this is. Its a whole bunch of Nations (separate countries which are not US states, not part of the US, and are even further away than Alsaka in some cases, I know thats a difficult concept!) who compete against each other as distinct, discrete, sovereign entities for the title of "World Champions". They are given this title because they beat other countries, not because they had a knock about in their own back yards!....dear oh dear!

Whats does NBA stand for? is it "National Basketball Association"?.....is there a clue in that title?

BTW we got knocked out by the West Indies in a rain affected game which meant of course that Duckworth-Lewis rules applied, as I am sure you were aware!

Hey bpats, you're lucky Bynum was hurt last year otherwise we would have repeated! I WISH we played the Celtics. It would have been a sweep. There was no way we would have lost to the Celtics this year. By the way, didn't the Lakers SWEEP the Celtics this year during the regular season, WITH a healthy Garnett? Skeletor wouldn't have made a difference.

Deadlywiffeathr, i respect your point of view and really, it is an American point of view calling ourselves World champions. But then again, no one is stopping other countries from forming their own leagues for football. Other countries created basketball leagues, why not football? So, until another country decides to create their own league, we will call ourselves World champions because NO ONE ELSE in the world can beat them.

Kobe Bryant couldn't get rid of Andrew Bynum and he OPENLY wanted him gone. But he can get rid of Shaq? C'mon man, use some logic. Stop Kobe hating and pay attention to simple facts. why don`t you pay attention to the facts written in Jackson`s book ; HOW convenient you always seem to gloss over that. I get it , you have a man-crush on Kobe .

I am done with the Kobe talk, I gave the guy his credit for proving himself and being included with the best of all-time . Its just sad that so much other BS comes along for the ride. when it comes to Kobe , you can`t see the forest for the trees .

Flock, think about it. If Phil truly didn't like Kobe and thought he was "uncoachable", why on this planet did he come back to coach the Lakers? If Kobe was so horrible and he caused so much strife, WHY would Kobe and Phil hug after winning the title? People make all this crap out of Phil's book, yet Phil is STILL coach of the Lakers and he still loves Kobe.

Did you see the Spike Lee film "Kobe: Doin' work"? You listen to Kobe talk about his love and appreciation for Phil. Do you really think Phil would coach the Lakers if he couldn't get along with him? Use some common sense. Phil was straight chillin' in Australia when Jerry Buss said "please coach my team." Phil could have said "Kiss my ass", but he didn't. Why not?

Again, Shaq HIMSELF even admitted as to why he left LA. Just like Jack Nicholson once said, "You can't handle the truth!". Now, as to your Kobe hate and all these misconceptions about the man, please read the quote in my signature next to the picture of Kobe and the trophy. It says it all......

I dont wanna start any crazy antics with this post, because i can see its all in good fun, but to offer another country's perspective on things: we find it majorly hilarious that the americans call their teams the "WORLD champs" when they are the only country that compete in the sport. Surely logic can show u that its wrong to do that lol. Its not so much with the NBA, the USA win gold at the olympics almost every time they compete and that cleary shows they are in fact world champs. Its the NFL that gets my goat! You as a nation call it AMERICAN football. Only AMERICAN teams play it. How can u be world champs if u dont share ur game with the world and compete against other nations??? I know u'll all tell me that there are a thousand international players that help make up the league, but thats not the point. I have no doubt that if gridiron was an international sport the americans would dominate it but until that happens u cant decalre urself world champions. Thats just my opinion 🙂. And for what its worth, primetime, i love ur passion for sport

the nfl champions are called the world champions because we are the only nation that plays american football, so our champions are the world champions so until another country starts a league our teams will be world champions.

You really need to get your facts straight . James Naismith, who was canadian , invented basketball in 1891 in Massachusetts at Springfield College under the direction under American phys-ed specialist Luther Halsy Gulick.

Last time I checked Toronto was in Canada, eh; The raptors play in the NBA.


If we really want to get technical then the World Cup should be re-named the multiple country cup.

Besides, the Lakers are the most successful franchise in NBA history. We never took 21 years to win another title. We were in the title hunt and made a NBA Finals in EVERY DECADE. We will pass you for most titles soon enough.

HOW SWEET IT IS.......

Lakers/Boston would have been the real series, with a healthy Garnett and with Bynum on the upswing he was on before his injury, an injury I think made Bymum a little tentative at the end of the season. Boston's "Big Baby" and Rajon Rondo really stepped up this season. Boston is deep, but they are getting older.

Maybe next year, with everybody at full strength?
