Man, after all this talk about a Lakers-Celtics rematch in the NBA Finals, it could very well be a Lakers-Cavaliers matchup instead. Kobe vs Lebron. The glitz and glamour city vs probably the most bland city ever. "Hollywood" vs "Mistake by the lake". It will actually draw ratings.

What is really funny is watching the Boston Celtics LOSE. What people have to realize is, before last year, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen were NEVER winners. They finally won, now they have no idea on how to handle success. Plus, they are OLD. They have no bench. Rajon Rondo is a joke (reminds me of Smush Parker) and Kendrick Perkins looks like a thug wearing a basketball jersey. The Celtics have no bench and whoever thought Doc Rivers was a genius coach is insane. Now, they are not finished by any stretch of the imagination, they may very well make the Finals, but they really aren't that good. I hope people can stop blabbing about how "intense" they are. They should have lost to Atlanta in the first round last year.

The Cavs are playing WAY over their heads. Lebron is the man, but the other guys are playing decently. It also helps to play in the East. Lebron is they type of guy who can carry his team to the Finals, much like Dwyane Wade did for the Heat a few years back. Is this Lebron's year to win the MVP? He definitely is the front runner in my opinion.

The Lakers are the best team in the NBA. Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum are starting to meld together and they have the BEST basketball player in the league, Kobe Bryant. The Lakers problem is lack of focus. If they don't focus on the "little" games, they may choke their way out of a title. The West is still the best conference and if they don't focus, a team like New Orleans or Houston, maybe even Portland will upset them.

It is going to be interesting this year.

Oh yeah.......BOSTON SUCKS! BOSTON SUCKS! BOSTON SUCKS!!

C`mon now...

The season isn`t even at the halfway point yet. One major injury to the wrong player and these so called best teams will stuggle to be .500

And you have the trade deadline, it can change things significantly. You should know that better than anymore, with the free handout Memphis gave the Lakers in acquiring Pau Gasol. that trade still smells funny

Granted, it is still early, but I got sick and tired about hearing how good Boston is. They play tough, but they really aren't that good. KG just cusses all day, Ray Allen is a choker and Paul Pierce is a good player, not an elite player. I will give them credit, they won the title last year, but that team still doesn't scare me.

The only teams that scare me are the New Orleans, Houston and the Portland Trailblazers. The Hornets scare me because Chris Paul is tremendous. Houston and Portland have guys that can match up with the Lakers. They just need the experience.

over the last couple of years the rockets have played less than half of their games with both Mc Grady ang Ming in the lineup.

bottom line is Celtics beat the Lakers last year and are the champs. And I am not a Celtics fan but the truth is the truth

Oh yeah, the Celtics ARE the champs, but a lot of the media claimed them to be the greatest team when they started 27-2 and had a 19 game winning streak. The Lakers lost a couple of games and were heavily criticized. Now Boston has lost 5 of their last 7 and it is hilarious.

Boston only dominated LA in Game 6 of last years Finals. The other games could have gone either way. The Lakers choked away game 4, should have won games 1 & 2. The Lakers have a real bad habit of getting huge leads, then blowing them. Hopefully they focus this year because I am in the mood to go to a parade this year. Boston will not beat the Lakers in a 7 game series THIS year. The loss of Posey and PJ Brown is going to kill them.

Granted, the Celtics were totally over-hyped during the 19 game winning streak and are neither as good as they showed then, or as bad as they are showing now, but to say Paul Pierce isn't an elite talent is laughable. He's arguably the best offense player the Celtics have ever had (and yes, I am including Larry Bird, John Havlicek et al), Bob Ryan and many others have said the same. He can score inside and out, and his footwork is up there with Kobe for the best in the game. Have you seen any of the games the Celtics have played this season aside from the LA game? Pierce has played his best stretch of the season during the losing streak and the Celtics defensive play has been roughly par for the course.

They just aren't hitting enough shots...I know everyone wants to make it out to be something more...but sometimes you just get cold from the floor as a team. Defense pack the lane and keep Rondo from penetrating and the C's are hitting enough from the perimeter. The bottom line is they aren't as good when turned into a jump shooting team as opposed to a team that attacks the basket.

That said, the Celtics still have the most talent and depth, but Cleveland is other-worldly right now, as the C's were the first couple of months...and LeBron is hands down the best player on the planet. It's going to be a heck of a race down the stretch for the top seed and in the post-season...oh and don't forget Orlando, great big man, they play inside out better than anyone, good point differential, they are for real.

Where I do agree is on Doc. His lack of knowledge in substitution patterns has been in part to blame for this slide...hence Brian Scalabrine getting insane minutes two games ago...and nearly cost the Celtics against a good Cavs team and a very good adjustments coach in Mike Brown last post-season.

By the by...when did three of the four best teams in the NBA move to the East? West is still deeper but man has the East become top heavy.

Nobody has cared about the NBA since Jordan left. Talent level is way down and aside from maybe 1 or 2 teams, all just a bunch of 1 man teams.

Nobody cared since Jordan left? I guess you missed the soap opera days of the Lakers between 2000-2004. The Lakers and/or Celtics make the NBA interesting.

Studm883. Are you serious? The Celtics have the most talent and depth? Are we watching the same Celtics team. Let's look at their talent....

Kevin Garnett. Can be a beast, but he is not the same as his youthful days. Still brings an intensity, but he doesn't want to be "THE GUY". He disappears down the stretch in crunch time.

Ray Allen. Great shooter. But he also normally DISAPPEARS in crunch time. If he was the focal point of a team (i.e. his days in Seattle), he would often fold like a lawn chair under pressure. Having Pierce and Garnett helped him. Remember last year's playoffs? Until the Finals, where was Ray? Folding somewhere....

Paul Pierce. This guy is not in the top 5 of the NBA. That goes to Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Chris Paul and Dwight Howard. Pierce is a good player, but he isn't elite. Until KG and Allen got there, he was doing what? Absolutely nothing. He doesn't strike fear in people. He's good, but elite? Hardly.

Now, let's look at the rest of the Celtics. Rondo is a complete joke. The guy hustles, but he can't shoot to save his life. He is a slighty better version of Smush Parker. No one fears Rondo. The man is terrible. Kendrick Perkins is also garbage. He's just a big guy wearing a basketball jersey. Any good center will destroy him.

The Celtics bench is HORRIBLE. Who do they have? Eddie House? Please. Leon Powe? I can't stop giggling over that one. Glen "Big Baby" Davis? Lived up to his nickname when he cried on the bench as KG yelled at him. That is the Celtics weakness. They do not have a bench. Losing James Posey and PJ Brown decimated whatever depth they have.

The Celtics have issues......

Lebron James is the #2 player in the NBA. He is not Kobe Bryant. When Kobe retires, Lebron will assume the #1 title. I would much rather have Kobe in the clutch than Lebron.

If the Lakers survive the Western Conference, they should win because they will be more focused. A Lebron vs Kobe Finals would be fun, but Lebron's "help" is not as good as Kobe's "help". If it's another Lakers/Celtics Finals, it will be a bloodbath, but the Lakers will prevail. The Celtics have no depth, the Lakers do.

Hmmmm....

I would keep my eyes on the 2nd youngest, most improved team:

Well, you make it pretty hard to assume any form of objectivity when you end a post with "BOSTON SUCKS BOSTON SUCKS"...but you underestimate Rondo and the Celtics bench dramatically.

And...take off the Kobe jersey...LeBron James is the best player on this planet, no, not when Kobe retires...right here and now. He's had next to no help in Cleveland and gotten the team to the finals once and would have gotten the Cavs to the finals last year in my opinion if not for a huge effort by Paul Pierce in game 7 of their series. I didn't put much stock in the Pistons...as for Kobe's post-season success...I think Shaq summed it up better than I could...

Hey Stud, you still haven't told me how the Celtics bench is any good. WHO on their bench is any good? The Lakers lose games because they lack focus. What is the Celtics excuse? They "supposedly" play defense. Their bench is horrible and so are their other starters except KG, Pierce and Allen. You KNOW Rondo is a joke. They put Kobe on Rondo, so he can "sag" off of him and help someone else. No one cares is Rondo shoots the ball. He is no threat. You stop him by not allowing him to penetrate. We WANT Rondo to shoot.

What have you been watching? Everyone knows Kobe Bryant is the best basketball player in the NBA. As for Kobe's postseason success, I will forgive you because you were a kid then. If you ever watch the Lakers playoff runs, not just the NBA Finals, Kobe Bryant is a LARGE reason why the Lakers even made the Finals. It was Kobe that killed the Spurs, not Shaq. Do your history and you will see that. Lebron doesn't have the killer instinct that Kobe does. He's getting better at it, but Kobe Bryant is a cold blooded assassin on the basketball court. Lebron IS #2.

So tell me, what do the Celtics have on their bench for ANY team to fear?

I know I read that wrong. PLEASE tell me you weren`t implying he might be the best ever when he is done

you read it right... stats are stats wether he is as hailed as jordan he will end being better

you have lost your everlovin` mind

Ever heard of guys named

Michael Jordan

Magic Johnson

Kareem abdul jabaar

Elgin Baylor

larry Bird

Wilt Chamberlain

Oscar Robertson

his numbers...his rings,,, his leadership.. mind u he isnt there yet but he will be before he is done

leadership, he has been widely considered one of the most selfish players ever

Why don`t you talk to Bill Russell and he will show you true leadership, along with his 11 championship rings

Funny thing is, as much as I love punkrockergirl giving my man Kobe all the props, I wouldn't necessarily call him the greatest ever. There is NO greatest ever. Jordan IS NOT the greatest ever. Magic is NOT the greatest ever. Wilt is NOT the greatest ever.

Each guy is ONE of the greatest. But mark my words (and punkrockergirl's), Kobe WILL be ONE of the greatest ever.
