ok, so i like being tickled sometimes. so i do those things to get people to tickle you (hold arms above head, put feet near them, etc) but sometimes when i did that, it didn't tickle as much as usual. sometimes i didn't laugh. but when i make a bet that i won't laugh, that im not ticklish, or when i don't really want to be tickled then, when i get tickled, i burst out laughing and it really does tickle. anyone else weird like this?

Not really, its just that for you, you need to be surprised by the tickling.
You can't "set it up", or at least because you know its coming you "block it out a bit" but when you are surprised it "Shocks" you and you laugh by instinct.

I don't quite fit the criterion on this one but my ticklishness does fluctuate quite a bit, sometimes I can reframe from laughing (rare) others if you so much as touch my hair i'm gonna thrash like a mad puppet.. I hate it though when i'm not in the mood for laughing and someone insists on tickling me to cheer me up.. Ggggggrrrrrr.... I can't hold a grudge though..

I think that's why surprise tickles are best because most people almost always laugh when they get surprise tickles! That's one of my favorite type of tickles.
