Upon waking this morning, I am greeted with a lovely North Country picture-postcard moment...

...everything buried under four and a half feet of snow!!! And it's still coming down! They haven't touched the roads, I don't even own a snowblower and there's 30 feet of driveway behind my car (at least I think that lump in my yard is my car)

Of course, my stupid dog is loving it...digging tunnels, sitting on top of his doghouse snapping snowflakes out of the air. There's something about mixing Rotties and Dobies that makes a dog dumb, I think.

I've lived up here almost nine years, and have never seen this much snow in one shot. We usually get all this shit blown away from the Champlain Valley wind stream. Actually, I haven't seen this much since the Blizzard of '92 in Binghamton.

I don't care what it takes, what I have to sell or who I have to destroy...but this time next year, I'm a freakin' Jamaican...

I, formerly a resident of Northern Wisconsin, used to be an expert on snow, seeing as we got our 2 days of summer, and the rest was that white yuck!

Gimme 70 degrees year-'round, and rain maybe once every week, and I'll be happy....

Hell, it would be a great excuse to wear sandals....

But, OH DAMN, what those fur-lined boots do to Mimi's feet......

Sensitive ain't the word here, folks....

And out of the kindness of her heart, or maybe 'cause she can't find any socks, she wears them barefoot!

Actually, I haven't seen this much since the Blizzard of '92 in Binghamton.

I remember that (being a Bingo gal)! As soon as the main drag was cleared down into town, I drove down to St. Pat's and spent the day helping the pastor unbury all the cars that had come and parked in the church lot for the duration of the on-street parking ban. Most of those who'd parked there were either unable or unwilling to dig themselves out. So, we ended up doing about 80% of them...over 120 cars. Now THAT was a workout. It was a good thing I'd thought to take a couple changes of clothes. Between the snow and sweating from the exertion, I had to change twice just to dry off. The sight of the Nat'l Guard heavy equipment coming in to help clear the streets was pretty awesome too.

I don't envy you, Dave! We didn't get a lot of snow...only about 5". But, we had an inch of ice once the temps started going back up. Luckily, we'd gotten out just as it was changing over and cleared the snow. I put down a good layer of salt as soon as the snow was up. (For those who don't know...Salting right BEFORE an ice storm creates a slight pocket under the ice so it's MUCH easier to get it up.) It kept going back and forth between sleet and freezing rain over night. We've got about 6,000 without power at last count. We're expecting 40-50 mph winds today. So, I'm sure there will be more outages as the weighed down branches start snapping off. Such fun!

i definitely agree snow sucks...i hate the blasted stuff, it's horrible to drive in, walk in...the only time it's good is if ya own a pair of skis (which i don't)...and it's absolutely horrible for house training a puppy because all she wants to do is play in it and of course it practically buries her(though that is kinda funny)....i'll book the flight to jamaica with a side trip to florida😉

you know what the hardest thing about this is?? its only mid-december!! We still have a couple of months of winter to contend with!! We had about 4-5" here before it turned to ice\rain\whatever. And god love those SUV's that think their invincible, nice couple of them in a twist on the side of the road yesterday morning.
