I'm always left smiling when the co-operation between our countries is acknowledged in a positive light.
As some of you may know, I'm in the UK armed forces and I'm deeply proud of that. I'm also proud of the relationship between the UK and US forces. Whether it be military or otherwise, it's something very rare these days. One reason it's special is because in an age when our two countries can count it's most trusted and respected allies on one finger we still kick arse.
I thank Gen. Petraeus for his kind words and the members of the US military for their work and hope that our co-operation and 'kinship' remains strong.
We should all be proud of our defenders and protectors.
Last but certainly not least, I propose a toast to our brave fallen. May their sacrifice not have been in vain.
